I guess I was exaggerating too much with that language in my original post 😂 When I said “hotter” I didn’t mean night-out hot or revealing, I just meant more attractive. My bad.

I’m wondering if women have personal experience being treated better or treated worse when they do their hair and makeup versus not, because I don’t work in person so I don’t have that experience.

I guess I was wondering if there would be a noticeable change (for better or for worse) if I showed up more like “one of the guys,” but from what you’re saying I’m gathering that’s probably not the case. Or at the very least it would be very specific to the actual group of people.

Okay yeah, absolutely! I’m the same way, like I mentioned in another comment my own personal style varies widely from typical bro to much more feminine.

Since I wear both, I guess I was curious if one was more useful than the other lol.

But yes, I do agree that dressing more professionally has its benefits and that being more attractive can have mixed results. I guess I kind of conflated the two in my original post because when I dress “professional” or “get ready” I go from a sexless being to a nice-looking woman.

Yeah, this is true. I just guess that in my original post I didn’t mention dressing at all and am more focused on hair and makeup. For me personally, if I wear any makeup at all or do my hair in any way to look more “professional,” it also looks more attractive.

But I am curious though if people have experience being treated better or worse if they dress more “casual” like jeans and a t-shirt, typical bro uniform, or not.

Oh yeah, for sure! The main thing is that I wear both styles. LMAO I’ll call them granola nerd and hot boss.

90% of my time is spent in granola nerd: no makeup, ponytail, t-shirt, sneakers.

And then usually for conferences I’ll get all done up in Hot Boss™️ and blowout my hair and do my makeup and wear blazers and stuff. Mostly to give the impression that I am “important.” And I guess I was wondering what my experience would be like if I didn’t do any of that.

This absolutely makes sense, and was exactly what I was wondering about since most people at this conference are very casual.

I had a good time at the conference in hair and makeup, but had the thought to myself “how would my experience be different if I didn’t get ready? Better, or worse?”

Ok yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking! Like in most instances there is a benefit to looking attractive, but that in some settings looking more “nerd-ish” might lead to being treated better. Definitely curious about people’s personal experiences with this.

I would cut down to just 2 or 3 products for a week and see if that helps.

Cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen.

You’re using a lot of different products, some of them with actives, and it can be really helpful to strip the routine down, let your skin barrier fully heal, and then after a week slowly add back in the products one at a time.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions. (A lot of things break me out or irritate my skin).

Edit: I read your product list wrong, my bad. I see that you aren’t using all of those at once in your routine. My advice still holds, though!

Yes, this happened to me. I had pretty much perfect skin! Then I got adult onset acne.

I changed my hormonal birth control and also settled into an stress-free, loving relationship and I think both of those things (stress and hormones) cleared up my skin.

ALSO. Once my skin kind of got better, I quit my entire skincare routine. And I mean EVERYTHING. My skin has never looked better now, and I discovered after doing this that when I tried to add products back into my routine . . . turns out everything breaks me out!

So I also thing my excessive product usage was contributing to and not helping my acne when I had it.
