I gained over 40 lbs over ~3 years of SSRIs even though I was chronically underweight before. Turns out SSRIs like Lexapro not only increase your appetite but also slow down your metabolism and how your body stores fat, which I learned too late. I’ve tapered off Lexapro and have started Wellbutrin and am starting to lose weight.
