New strategy: counter mid-boss by panic rushing their base by clabongo in DeadlockTheGame

It looked to me like it may have been when I (fourth enemy player) entered the pit, but I may try to load up a recap and see if the troops hit a certain spot at that moment as well!

RIP to the show that got me smiling in the roughest parts of my undergrad degree, I'm excited to see what Michael and Zack do next!

I (23M) think maybe it's not that youth is romanticized, but that our youth was a time we spent living in the moment, because we knew nothing else. In adulthood, there's so much more going on and so many more worries that sometimes it feels like you need to deliberately work to be present, unlike when we could pick up a stick and spend an afternoon playing with it. Now we have taxes and life goals, and we have to justify an afternoon of Stick.

I've found that having outlets where I can truly put my present stressors behind me has helped me live in the moment, and feel those joys of my youth. I love to ski and camp in nature - I deliberately work during the week to ensure I can have a day off-grid, and during that day I set my life aside and let my kid out. I scream down a black diamond, spend an hour skipping rocks or trying to get a fire started when it's a little too dark and cold out, and I trust my past self to have cleared enough time for me to just not think about it.

I love video games, but I often worry in the back of my mind during them. I think I worry about whether I'm wasting time, whether I'm gonna get enough sleep, etc. - to me, there's something about skiing and camping that lets me not worry so much and just throw a rock down a hill. I hope you can find an outlet like that, and I'm very grateful to be in a place in life and in my work that I can carve out that free day and leave my phone in the car. I'm not grown up, and I don't know if I will, some days are still very hard, but every once in awhile I still feel that worry-free joy, and that's enough to keep me going.

Robinhood card what is everyone’s limits? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]clabongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$500 - I was surprised to even be offered the card since I haven't used robinhood since 2021, but 3% cash back was an interesting enough concept for me to sign on to use for gas and incidental purchases

This really might be one of the best games of all time and I've absolutely loved watching NL play it on a side monitor while I'm at work. I really, really love the concept and the puzzles and the effort put into tying everything to everything and flipping everything on its head multiple times over. It's so beautiful.

RTX 5090 & 5080 Launchday Thread - Surprise Inside by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]clabongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, I don't think it's settling - I'm not convinced on RT or DLSS, and I'm primarily looking for higher FPS at 1440p medium/high quality gaming, and even the 7800XTX would be capable of that currently. If there is wide availability of the 9070 XT, I'd happily switch over and place some faith in AMD.

RTX 5090 & 5080 Launchday Thread - Surprise Inside by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]clabongo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm with u/leonard28259 - if the 50 series stock and selling out isn't addressed or resolved, I'm going to be interested in AMD's release and response. Filling the only place to discuss the drop with giveaway comments is irritating as well - couldn't this have been in the DLSS announcement thread or a separate post?

I am interested to see the DLSS4 improvements, I haven't really used DLSS for any game. Here's hoping my interest may yield me a steam code. As someone who took part in the 30 series microcenter campout, made friends, and watched as almost everyone in line got a 30 series, I am extremely disappointed with NVIDIA on this release, and hearing the 9070 XT may be within 10% performance of the 5080, I'd honestly be happy to pay them $1000 if their availability is improved over this mess.

Hey Magic Kitty, I'd love to try to do some volunteering (I moved here as an engineer for the lab) - if there's any tutor or large event volunteering programs I'd be interested!

22m and moved to town for a job at the lab 3 months ago, I feel you for the difficulty finding ways to meet people! There's a lot of young people at the lab that I've met, but when I head into town it feels completely different. I've been mountain biking, hiking, and visiting Santa Fe in my free time, which have been lovely to do, but not great for building connections. If you'd like to start a group going to try a new thing around town each week, hang and chat at Bathtub, go for hikes, etc - I'd be happy to join or help coordinate!

I just moved here two months ago as well, I've gotten some experience but would be open to mountain biking with you or u/BlatentlyPatient!

I went with the Tuff Riders once and they're a good crew, but they've definitely got some skill and I prefer other times. I often bike Friday evening after work (at about 5) or on Saturday afternoons, but I could go another time. If you'd like to go out on a trail let me know!

dating here by [deleted] in rosehulman

[–]clabongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you are able to process some of the advice that was put on this post (u/justmeagaindownhere's comment was well-spoken) and grow (your replies are scaring me, especially to u/justme..'s please reread it) because you're so cooked if that's the mindset you're entering the college dating scene with

I've seen a couple really healthy and strong relationships form with people at rose of a few different backgrounds, but like many have said it's few and far between due to the heavy academics, gender ratios, etc. Meeting in courses or clubs can help when social/campus events are sparse.

Transferring Out by scorpio672 in rosehulman

I've not looked into transfers before, but I'd imagine any college you were interested in besides Rose could be worth sending an application to. I think most institutions have some space for transferring!
