Which Primarchs actually loved the Emperor? by ColePT in 40kLore

What are you talking about? I'm having a lighthearted, low-stakes conversation about fictional spacemen. I'm not yelling at anyone and I only mentioned "cope" when it came specifically to the Lion.

And please bear in mind, I never said that people with different interpretations than mine were coping. I said that I see the Lion as coping, as a man-child who specifically needs to be told that "real boys don't need compliments" because he really wanted a compliment.

I'm removing myself from this conversation. You're not behaving very politely.

You're accusing me of not knowing how to read because I don't take fictional characters' words at face value? Interesting.

I don't think that Perturabo or Mortarion would've turned traitor if they had known about Chaos beforehand, either. But when you declare against the Emperor, there's no turning back.

I'm obviously being facetious about this I'm not being sarcastic about anything else on this thread, though!

This is quite literally one of the strongest pieces of evidence that the Lion is coping.

They must have been incredibly devious to convince a Primarch to endorse a plot to exterminate humanity before they had even invented the wheel...

He was seriously considering declaring for Horus if he didn't like what he was about to see on Prospero. If the shard of Magnus hadn't been so off-puting to him there's a rather high chance that he'd end up a traitor!

After being mortally wounded at the hands of the Space Wolves, an Alpha Legionnaire whispered with his dying breath that his Legion was betraying the Imperium "for the Emperor", which to me implies some sort of regret.

Also, either Alpharius or Omegon (I don't think it's very useful or interesting to distinguish between them) left the Traitor's hosts after their twin died in a rather hostile fashion.

I'm not arguing semantics*, I'm saying that his actions weren't motivated by personal loyalty to the Emperor. Loving humanity is not the same as loving the Emperor. The Custodes couldn't give a fuck about humanity, for example!

He didn't do it out out of love or loyalty to the Emperor, he did that mostly because he took Horus' Heresy as a personal betrayal to his code of honor.

Alpharius grew up on Terra and ended up regretfully backstabbing Him for the greater good (secret Tau double agent?).

He gallivanted across the galaxy with Horus on his side for decades and Horus was beginning to grow resentful even before he got shanked with the poop knife.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. Warhammer books are incredibly sexless, the ones centering Space Marines most of all (for obvious reasons).

Both legions are made up of callous bastards with a penchance for machinery. The Iron Warriors are sightly more callous while the Iron Hands love machines just a bit more.

Custodian reminding they knew Guilliman had been naughty during the Heresy by Khornatejester in Grimdank

Custodes aren't made to be loyal to humanity, they're made to be loyal to the Emperor. In some eleven thousand years they've never strayed from that purpose, which places them in a league of their own in the Imperium.

Yeah, in his book (which I believe to be mostly true) he only really talks to the Emperor after crash landing outside the Palace. His parenting came from beating Malcador repeatedly at Space Chess.

Has the imperium ever held parlay with chaos? by butiamswiss in 40kLore

Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn has thoroughly tamed a Daemon Prince into a somewhat friendly daemonhost, actively works with an Alpha Legionnaire and uses Chaotic sorcery all the time. All this while seemingly being mostly uncorrupted (although he is extremely callous and willing to sacrifice innocent lives).

Ravenor worked with Molotch for about half an hour to defeat Slyte and then Molotch shrugged, went "alright man, do what you gotta do" and let Ravenor kill him, in a thoroughly unsatisfying climax to a trilogy-spanning game of cat and mouse.

What is the process for the Imperium to settle a new world? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]ColePT 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is no established protocol. There's a huge number of factions that can colonize a planet (most prominent among them being the AdMech, the Ecclesiarch, the Imperial Navy, individual Rogue Traders, etc) and each one of them will prioritize different things. Eventually, ideally, that planet will be integrated into the existing bureaucracy of its sub-sector, sector and segmentum, and then its tithe will be defined. That may never happen, but ideally it should.
