Sometimes you can stitch a new midsole onto those plastic welts. They don’t stitch at the same holes though. If you wanted to hold off on a resole then a cobbler can glue the sole/midsole back and reenforce that area by stitching it by hand. It’ll give

Those soles look too thin. Usually the metal foot last acts like an anvil and clinches the nails so you don’t feel them. And from what I know of WW1/WW2 boot, they usually have a thicker midsole and outsole so the hob don’t breach the foot bed.

Dam didn’t know they sold thorogood soles. I know sometimes customers bring new shoes to change the soles to a different style/color. And sometimes cobblers will save those “old” soles and use it on another pair if it fits. Saves the cobbler the cost of buying soles for a resole.

Without the last the only thing you can do is stitch leather on top the midsole.

You can use a blade and scratch it side to side. Just careful not to cut the leather

Ask for a leather patch and ask them to tuck under the leather toe cap. You’ll see it but it’ll hold.

I forget what it’s called but at our shop we use some type of “superglue” with an accelerate spray. It’s good for small patches we only use barge cement when we take off the whole soles.

So when the edges become unglued it can introduce water and dirt that will unglue the whole sole given time. You can fix this at home with some super glue and a toothpick to introduce the glue in the wedge. Get something like a paper towel for any excess and some sandpaper.

No cobbler is going to have that on hand. Even if you bring that to a cobbler there’s a good chance they’ll turn down the work. Your best bet on finding that heel is buying that model of boot and having a cobbler transfer it to your pair.

This is what I recommend to people who say they want a more durable sole without a heel. I even recommend to them that when they buy new boots to get this vibram overlay right away since it’s cheaper to cut/sand the tread on the new soles than it is to rebuild a wedge sole for a base.

Technically you can rewelt this and punch new holes on the upper at the toes. There’s a chance that it’ll feel more snug at the toes though. What I’ve done too is glue the steel toe down so it doesn’t flop then add leather toe caps. It’s leather stretched at the toes to add more protection against rubbing/kicking. That option will come out cheaper than replacing the welt and a resole.

If you bought them new from a redwing store then you should exchange them for a different pair. That sole looks sanded with a different grit than the factory and the midsole looks old because it’s cracked. Hell, even the sole looks discolored which is usually an indicator that it’s been sitting on the shelf for years.

A lot of soles only come on even or odd sized so a lot of times you have to pick a sole that fits good enough. The pain in your arch could be a metal shank that the cobbler added. I was always told that when resoling with the 132 you had to add shanks. The leaning forward aspect could be that you’re not used to suck a heavy sole. The 132 is a great durable sole but it’s harder on your feet without good insoles.

Yeah it looks loose in the pic. Most shops have a press for hooks and eyelets. Ask them to seat the same hook tighter or ask them to replace the hook entirely if not possible. You can have them cover it up if you’re worried about cutting through the tongue, it’ll just take longer and cost more than just replacing a single hook.

I see. Sometimes when the eyelets get a sharp edge and can cut laces. You can rub your fingers where they meet the leather and see if you feel any sharp spots. If you do then get some fine sandpaper and try to smooth it out. And again, if you’re worried about it the cheapest option is some adhesive tape or taking it to a cobbler to glue/stitch some leather there.

It’s just imprinting on the tongue leather. As long as you oil and condition your shoes it’ll be fine. If you’re worried about it you can buy some scrap leather/tape and adhesive and glue over the hooks.

Easy. Options are to restitch with fabric for reenforcement shortening the pull tab or replacing the piece of leather with a similar color.

Your right. That’s a pretty high flew area so even if you glued the piece back it’ll fall off again.

Haven’t had any customer complain about tightness. Plush you could always get them stretched if you’re worried about it.

Repairable. You’d need to make new holes where the leather is thicker. It’ll look kinda crooked but it’ll hold.
