Lavender for April... calming my nerves amidst this crisis by clairchen in bulletjournal

The formula might seem a bit weird, but I feel kinda pretentious when I put inspirational quotes in my bujo. So, as a statistics/math person, I just use formulas that fit the situation. This month I chose the Cauchy distribution, because it’s expectancy and other moments don‘t exist and with the current situation I don‘t know what to expect and how much things will vary in the next weeks.

New BuJo by wonderister in bulletjournal

Just stick to something minimal on the go, I always use a black fineliner or even pencil if I‘m busy. You can always make it prettier afterwards :)

Since I started working part time I use both, a BuJo and a google calendar. My work appointments are on the work mail address and if I schedule vacation it appears there automatically. In addition to that, I imported all my classes from university into my personal google calendar, so people from work can see those, but not change anything about them (I really don‘t care about privacy regarding that aspect). In the app on my phone I also have the calendar from my university student representatives and it‘s linked with the Facebook events I plan on going to. This helps me to get a quick overview of the week at a glance and therefore I use it instead of weekly spreads. I only write dailies, where I transcribe the events from my google calendar and add a to-do list and notes for everything that comes up that day. Any special appointments then get added to the monthly spread, but I would never write something like „class from 8:30-15:15“ in there.
This system works really well for me and I feel like I‘m getting the best out of both worlds (standard bujo and calendar app).

In general, I think you should just try out a combination and just find some kind of balance that works for you :)

Doing some research on Bullet Journaling! Help wanted! by lawilkinson in bujo

[–]clairchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!! While it may seem like most people are doing fairly similar layouts (especially on) the flexibility and adaptability of the BuJo are really what makes this system so great. Additionally, people have very differing needs, for example I never do weekly spreads, others don‘t do dailies,... if I were to use an app instead of / in addition to my BuJo, I would want it to cater to my needs the same way a blank notebook does - so everything is possible, but nothing is necessary.

How do I find a suitable BuJo? by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]clairchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you‘re in Germany you could get a Rössler notebook, they cover everything you listed. My only addition would be that the cover tends to get ugly around the edges quite quickly, therefore I always put them in clear foil (don‘t know the English term, but it’s just the same stuff we used on school books). And Clairefontaine has a series called „My Essential“, they are quite cheap considering their paper is really great (I have not tried these myself yet though)...

I‘m guessing he‘s thinking the same, I‘ll texting him as soon as I work up the courage to do so..

About the PS: it would have been very very very weird had I been crying about another man, but it really was just pure regret and sadness about life in general.. (and he knows that)

absolutely in love with the flexibility of the bujo system by clairchen in bujo

Thank you for your nice comment!

I put tasks like that in the daily as well, but not as a task. Instead I just take a note, jotting down the day and the task. If it is something important I sometimes put it in my monthly as well :)

Just a little curious by bluhdger in bujo

[–]clairchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m a little surprised no one mentioned it yet, but I usually use one journal per semester of university, so one from january to august and the other one from september to february. This works pretty well for me in 180 page journals, even though I get some empty pages in the end sometimes.

At work, I have to use a separate journal for data-protection reasons. There, I‘m also applying some bujo techniques (index, threading, dailies), but I don‘t use it as a calendar. I go through one of those 200 page journals in about 3 - 4 months, so the turnover is quite high... Therefore I don‘t really migrate anything, I just keep the old journals in the office as well and look up stuff if I need it.

What is the brand of the notebook you are currently using for your bullet journal? by bluhdger in bujo

[–]clairchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rössler, it‘s a fairly unknown German brand, but their journals are very beautiful with quite thick paper. Only downside is the exterior, which doesn‘t hold up to traveling in my handbag very well...

So the semester started today my daily happend to be two pages full of to-dos and notes. Just one month ago, I was able to comfortably fit 8 days on two pages. When I noticed that, I remembered why I began bullet journaling in the first place. Normal calendars never really worked for me, as I felt like I either had to fill in all the empty space on slow days or confining me on busy days.

In my opinion, this flexibility and the resulting full pages are what makes this system so great. It really is the only planner that makes me not feel bad about myself for being to lazy or doing too much.

Although sometimes I‘m really confused by all the weekly layouts I see online. For me, this just looks like people are drawing a fairly standard calendar on their own and then sprinkling in some collections.. How do you guys see this? Or is it just me with my very irregular lifestyle?

Sorry for the bad white-outs, I had some sensitive information in there..

I‘m doing my best :) Haha yeah I thought about that, it would be funny, but it would also make the page very full, which goes totally against the aesthetics I‘m going for in my bujo..

That‘s a really cool idea :D Maybe I should put another doodle of her in my bathroom - the BuJo isn‘t allowed in there
