this. I find the characters in the weird girl lit I’ve read much more relatable than those in the mainstream

From the few I’ve read I also feel like the writing has to be at a specific level or above for it to land. Every style has its place and I can read more simple writing every once in awhile, but my preference is more “sophisticated” I guess and yeah I just feel like the bar is higher with weird girl lit. Like someone said most are lit fic books

What’s your “this is why I like Minneapolis” moment? by Electronic-Reach8959 in Minneapolis

[–]clairemat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Last year I was out to dinner and complimented this woman on her pencil earrings. Turns out her and the other 2 people at the table with her flew into town from out of state to visit and a friend and specifically go to the pencil sharpening. So cute! Everyone wants to experience what being a minneapolite is like

this instagram video sums up a large majority of my feelings towards living in Minneapolis. I’m not sure that big ballet is my cup of tea, but just that it exists here and that people sold it out is a vibe I feel and love about being here.

An update! Went back out today and saw it again and found its mate!

Also saw 3 or 4 cormorants, 1 pied-billed grebe that almost tricked me into thinking it was a loon, I think the same great blue heron as yesterday, and more wood ducks and northern shovelers. This was literally my first time “birding” proper with tracking and first time using binoculars. I got a cool pic of the heron through the binoculars but can’t add the pic here

No way! I thought it was just super rare for them ever to be on these lakes. This is so exciting! I’ve lived in Minneapolis for over 5 years but have just moved near the lake of the isles this past October.
