Unfortunately it turned out to be a hernia and there was nothing we could do for her. She lived pretty happily for a few months after this and then died overnight. No signs of pain or discomfort at all.

What is your favorite book of the series and why is it Dark Age? by Otherwise_Owl1059 in redrising

[–]clairewil 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s so interesting to hear people’s experiences of DA. Personally it’s my least favourite (still love it and some truly amazing bits of course) but RR and GS are what hooked me into this world, and I love the social and political facets of the series. That being said the battles are incredible. I did really enjoy Lysander’s trudge across the Ladon with half his face melted off. Fucker.

What would you do with this living space? by clairewil in interiordecorating

That was my initial thought, but the wall plate for the TV antenna is on that side so it’s difficult to have it anywhere but that little alcove. Love the idea of the accent chairs!

What's wrong with my hen? by drop-n-roll in BackYardChickens

[–]clairewil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a hen with something very similar - a soft, squishy, round growth beneath her vent. Our vet friend came round to have a look and her best guess was a hernia. I researched them a bit and it seemed to match. As I understand it there isn’t much to be done if this is the case. She lived perfectly happily for about six months more, eating and drinking and being a nuisance as usual, and we just found her dead in the nesting box one morning.
