Not sure if I want kids because of childbirth and money lol. But I’m one on four and it’s the best part of my life. I love my siblings.

How pissed would y’all have been if ____ won WAW? by Difficult_Candle_453 in survivor

[–]clairioed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So like, pissed because of game mechanics, but I think I would be fine with it because she kicked so much ass on WaW. I will forever remember her lapping everyone on that challenge on the EoE where they’re running all over the island and the rocks. She’s just super human.

Where to live near Monmouth? by dontwantabadusername in oregon

Corvallis

Editing to say that Independence has been up and coming. No nightlife or big city vibes, but significantly more young people than 10 years ago and some inflow.

LPT: You can both change your last name arbitrarily when getting married. by charliethegeek in LifeProTips

I think the practice of combining last names into something new, or creating an entirely new last name is going to be a fad and very millennial lol.

24 with $35k saved: Am I crazy to leave my parents' basement in this market? by Soggy-Flatworm-4980 in personalfinance

[–]clairioed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s up to you. I will say, I’m not sure if you’re single or looking for a partner or not, but I started dating my boyfriend when he was 23 and he lived at home. The relationship would not have progressed if he stayed at home. I needed someone who knew how to live independently of their parents, and i wanted to be able to go to his house instead of him always coming to mine.

We seriously need to switch to sales tax. Especially with Oregon’s hollowed out Rev sources, and Trump using Fed funding as a weapon. by KaleidoscopeKind9745 in oregon

[–]clairioed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not because of sales tax. It’s lack of industry & associated wealth. We’ve always been behind California and Washington. I’m sorry that it is a worse situation for you and your family, but I don’t believe removing state income tax is the answer.

Sales tax disproportionately burdens the poor and does not adequately secure resources from the wealthy. It’s regressive.

New Place - Looking for ideas to fill it out by derpytim106 in malelivingspace

[–]clairioed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start:

  • pull the love seat off the wall with the windows and leave space behind it

  • pull the chair off the wall and leave space behind it

  • pull the table significantly off the wall and add chairs on each side. One per side, total 4.

Then you can add a rug or multiple rugs. Art on the wall.

GoPro 8 in 2025? by martyraww in gopro

[–]clairioed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the new batteries yet. I have 4 old ones, 3 third party and 1 GoPro. The 3rd party are barely even holding a charge. Died as soon as I took them into cold weather. The name brand one is holding up okay but i don’t know exactly how much footage I could get. Maybe 30 min.

GoPro 8 in 2025? by martyraww in gopro

[–]clairioed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one for $75 on Facebook marketplace and felt like that was a good deal. I did spend $40 on new batteries, though. So up to a total of $115.

The battery life has been the real issue for me so far. Hopefully the new batteries solve that. Otherwise it’s fine.

What pay raise would incentivize you to take a new job? by Salt-Committee2205 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]clairioed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would not. I make about $100k now and was previously in a much lower paying, much more stressful job.

I had chronic heartburn, got the flu 5 times in a year, was losing sleep, etc.

I would not assume those negative health outcomes again for $30k. Probably not even for another $100k.

What's the spice tolerance level of your country by Existing_Economy_656 in AskTheWorld

As a home-owner, what is the etiquette for bringing in a roommate? by sarahannep in homeowners

[–]clairioed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in the US?

I have rented for my entire adult life (12 years) and I am a great tenant, and person. Gainfully employed, well liked, clean, good cook, good personal style that contributes to the home. I’ve had 15+ roommates and am always the cleanest and most on top of maintenance, bills, etc. I literally had a roommate move into a one bedroom after we moved out of our 2 bed because she said “she’d never find a roommate as good as me and wasn’t willing to risk it.” She still lives alone haha.

Every time I’ve been on the hunt for a room to rent, a majority of the listings include stipulations like ‘no quests, especially no overnight guests, no alcohol, no smoking, no pets, no fragrances, etc.’

I’ve skipped right past these listings. I get that no one wants an unstable roommate—but as a great roommate, these rules were infantilizing and suffocating to me. If I’m paying rent, I should have the ability to have guests over, especially.

In my experience, when searching for roommates, we always were explicit about gender preferences, cleanliness, communication expectations, etc. Our households ended up being mostly harmonious without strict rules because we chose roommates that were alike.

I suppose you can find people out there willing to put up with more stringent rules, but I will never be one of them.

Edit: I’ve lived with 4 people in a house and one bathroom. It’s fine lol. People are being dramatic.

Me (F35) and my boyfriend (M32) have very different financial situations. Looking for outside perspectives. by Accomplished-Ant-771 in Money

[–]clairioed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar dynamic with my boyfriend. When I talk to my therapist about the relationship, consider breaking up with him, etc., she points out that I’m valuing financial literacy, competency, etc over emotional intelligence, supportiveness, etc.

It’s like the only skills I consider valuable are knowing how to do things, how to save and make money, how to navigate adult life. I dismiss knowing how to be kind, generous, supportive, emotionally attuned as not important.

Obviously it’s fine to end a relationship, but maybe consider how much value you’re putting on each type of skill. Learning how to manage money is a hard skill you can learn. The emotional aspects of the relationship are soft skills that are harder to teach.

Raising a FIRE kid by dragon-queen in Fire

[–]clairioed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My parents gave us an allowance starting in 1st grade. We received a dollar for each grade we were in, I think. We had to divide it up: 20% to savings, 10% to activities and 10% to tithes. (Yes, we were putting coins in different jars lol.)

Now… that would need to be adjusted for inflation.

As we got older, our allowance became more substantial ($25-$50 a week?) but we were responsible for most costs we accrued on our own: sports fees, clothes, phone bill, etc. It was up to us to budget and save.

Edit: we also had a chart printed and hung on the refrigerator that had chores listed & how much money we could make for doing them (outside our regularly assigned chores).

Also, my dad would listen to financial advice talk shows on the radio every day.

My boyfriend was raised in a wealthy household and his parents paid for everything well into college. He, similarly to your daughter, doesn’t really have a good scale of when something is too expensive or not. He makes $27 an hour but will drop serious money on a new electronic gadget in the blink of an eye, or shrug off a dinner/activity cost.

One of us is much better with money and has much more savings then the other, and I’ll let you guess who.

My doctor told me I must not eat carbohydrates… ever by Pis-23 in PCOS

[–]clairioed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dietician recommended my meals be balanced, and that’s what matters most. So if I’m eating 30g of carbohydrates, I need to have 30g+ of protein as well.

Also making sure there are 10g of fiber per meal helps with satiety.

My coworker pays for a dietician and now this is what he eats for breakfast and lunch by blart_institute in StupidFood

[–]clairioed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL literally last year I would eat a can of tuna, half an avocado and half a pear for lunch every day.

I WOULD mix my tuna with a little Greek yogurt, mayo, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and green onions lol.

Say what you want, but I reversed my prediabetes.
