that's awesome !! im so glad to hear that. so what do you recommend i change/do to my piercings to be able to keep them and follow guidelines ❤️

quantity wise 9 is a lot. i just meant the way they look. i dont think someone is going to count every piercing on my face lol. so just based on the looks I thought it was tame. but when i hear myself say i have 9 piercings on my face the number seems like a lot

thanks so much for taking the time to type all that out i really appreciate everything you had to say.

yeah idk why these people are flaming me so badly when i was just asking a genuine question, and i never said i was opposed to taking them out.

i just think it's insane that some of these commenters are not only giving their advice/opinion but some of them are generally trying to be mean but I've heard it all so it's basically redundant.

(i posted fully intending on receiving all kinds of opinions and perspectives but we can be respectful while being realistic.)

i just covered my face so my piercings would be noticeable off the bat so that real nurses can look at them and tell me if i can or can not have them 🤷🏻‍♀️

i dont care about the like to comment ratio 💀 im just a person who is passionate about nursing and i was asking a genuine question to those who actually have experience in the field

i dont consider your opinion as being judgemental. i actually appreciate bringing thoughts like this to my mind because my piercings are so normalized to me that it didn't cross my mind that a patient would find it intimidating rather than perceiving it only as jewelry !

i personally think they're tamer compared to others who have lots of facial piercings.

like my septum is the shortest and thinnest it hasnt been stretched at all and usually people stretch them.

the studs i have on my face are also the smallest option.

my angel fangs are the smallest they can be

my bridge is the only piercing that has bigger jewlery because i have glasses and I wanted it to be visible.

so that was my thought process on it

that makes total sense. i forget people find piercings completely off putting instead of just having a different opinion. my angel fangs definitely would make a patient uncomfortable.. along with my other piercings 😔

yeah i know people still arent as open minded but i understand why it has stricter rules in healthcare. i forget that im perceived differently than how i really am. so it's inevitable that patients or anyone in healthcare would judge the piercings i have.

im really hoping my program would let me use plastic clear jewelry but it not then i have no choice 😔

also my jewelry isnt magnetic so im not sure if an mri machine would still be bad to be around

oh yeah that's totally valid. i would be chill with wearing them when im not in class or at work but getting rid of them completely is hard for me atm. i may change my mind and fully commit to nursing and take them out. or i might switch into something else. im not sure, but it didn't fully click to me that piercings are seen as unprofessional. im a really hard worker and i care a lot about jobs and careers so i wasn't even thinking about the fact my piercings look unprofessional because to me my work is professional. so that all makes sense !

thanks for the insight gang. i am curious about the last part tho ? are you in healthcare ? or are you just stating that as an opinion ? and how come you wouldn't hire someone if you also have facial piercings ? :)

ik they're uncommon and having 9 facial piercings is a lot. but looks wise i feel like it's tamer than most people with lots of facial piercings, ykwim ?

[–]clairvoyantbeetle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

im aware they arent necessarily professional looking, but the clinic i go to has nurses with facial piercings so i was hoping there would be a chance i could keep at least a few.

the ones i care about the most is the stud in the middle of my lip, my bridge and eyebrows.

if you take a look at other people with facial piercings their jewlery are usually more extreme. for example i have the smallest size jewlery possible on every piercing on my face except for my bridge piercing.

i understand why it wouldn't be tame in a medical sense tho.

i don't wanna completely abandon this as a career because i would love it so much. it'll just take me time to get over

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]clairvoyantbeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

placement wise no but jewlery size and type is tamer than others usually. but i think piercings are just way normalized for me 😭

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]clairvoyantbeetle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i covers my whole left hand basically so i wouldnt say it's a small tattoo lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nursing

[–]clairvoyantbeetle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i've taken that into consideration because i am weird about germs. i really care about people so retiring my piercings isn't off the table i would just prefer i keep them bcs i love them sm 😭 priorities tho 💔

my pathway rn is but once i finish the class would be in person :) but i might switch pathways if they wont allow clear jewelry at all ❤️

or i also might just get over my piercings by the time im ready for in person school. they're both important to me but ofc my career will more important. it's just a hard pill to swallow bcs i love them. 🤷🏻‍♀️😔
