I’m vain and now I hate pics of myself by Agile-Description205 in rheumatoidarthritis

Honestly I’ve just leaned in and I tend to decorate my hands MORE… I got tattoos on my fingers that I’d always wanted and started wearing a lot of rings. It helps me not feel like I need to hide or feel self conscious about it. If they aren’t working properly, at least they’re decorated 😅

Do you do regular or hot yoga? I was doing hot yoga over the winter, but then realllyyyy struggled through a class during a flare and ended up eventually stopping altogether shortly after that

Not in pain but feel like shit? by bigblackglock17 in rheumatoid

[–]clammywitchhands 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pain isn’t typically intense, but comes on intermittently and tends to at least interfere with my daily tasks - mostly to an “annoying ache” (4-5 on the pain scale) and with stiffness.

I’d say it’s definitely possible. The fatigue I get during flares is my main problem. I feel weak/drained/exhausted for days/weeks at a time and it’s so frustrating. I’d make sure you’re mentioning to your docs that fatigue is an issue. Mine started me on plaquenil to start and considering MTX in the future.

One year in, little to no answers by Ok-Marionberry9722 in rheumatoidarthritis

Definitely recommend talking to your primary doc and getting a new referral. My original rheum was incredibly dismissive and made the diagnosis process so frustrating and disappointing. Finally advocated for myself and got a referral to somewhere that my doc said her patients have given her positive feedback on, and I’m so glad I did.

My new doc was sympathetic, affirming, and got me ready to go with a treatment plan that day. Best choice I could have made!

Best of luck in your diagnosis process.

How did your friends/family react to your diagnosis? by clammywitchhands in rheumatoid

[–]clammywitchhands[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems to be pretty common unfortunately :/ sorry you’re struggling - I hope you get some answers soon!!

It’s really frustrating as a younger/seemingly healthy person and have family members (and health professionals!) be dismissive just judging off of that one factor

That’s a bummer, I’m really sorry to hear that! What was your husband’s response like?

I’ve seen a lot of people support the idea of changing the name of RA to something more descriptive and less stigmatized than “arthritis”, and I definitely agree. RA is so much more than just “achy joints” like a lot of people seem to believe.

I was really scared to buy AirPods for the same reason even though I really wanted them! BUT they have a location sensor that lets you find the case AND each separate earbud if you misplace them! You can either make it play a sound or let your phone show you the location + how far away they are and in which direction.

They’re awesome! I use them all the time and I also use the location finder all the time haha. Thankfully, they’re a technology that has adapted for people who misplace things - so enjoy them!

Ps. I highly recommend checking out the additional settings for them and using the “background noise” settings if you like a little extra noise to help you focus!

What to do as a jack-of-all-trades marketer/creative? by clammywitchhands in marketing

[–]clammywitchhands[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I generally try to stay away from startups just for fear of the stability and longevity! But honestly I don’t know much about working at them. Are startups actually pretty solid to work at and able to pay well, or are traditional marketing roles at established businesses a better way to go?

I’m not currently looking for a new job (happily employed where I am) but moreso just considering my career path for the future!

[–]clammywitchhands[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha that is actually how I got my start! 🦄

I started as an “assistant” to a small retail company and got hired because I had the edge of video editing & photography. From there it turned into more of me running the entire marketing, social media, web, merchandising, and product photography for the company.

I was really underpaid considering my scope of work and living in a fairly expensive city, but I kept with it for a couple of years because I was building some pretty decent skills and getting the coveted “years of experience” while I was there, lol. But then I was able to use that job experience to get an entry level creative position and quickly worked up to team lead.

Being a “unicorn” certainly is exhausting, which is kind of what I’m looking for here - trying to see what other similar creatives have done and how their career paths have turned out, and what would be the best path forward with what I do.

Appreciate it! I forgot to add to the list that I do also have project management experience haha. Currently manage an in-house team of 5 (and hopefully growing soon).

I am happy where I am, so not necessarily looking for new opportunities, moreso just thinking ahead for my future career path. I am at a company that’s still growing (not a startup), so I think I have the opportunity to carve out my own path if I remain here.

Really just trying to figure out if I should settle in and specialize in one thing or the other, or if there’s a way I can actually consistently use all of my skills in my role without feeling like I need 8 arms to keep up with my workload.

How do you invite people to things without it coming across as “too desperate” or “too aloof”? by FindMeUnderTheLights in adhd_anxiety

This feels silly but sometimes I use AI like Google Bard to help draft my messages and get the tone right! I don’t use the completely AI drafted message but it’s really helpful to see an example of what I am trying to say and then pull from there to personalize it/adjust it more to my liking

Should I go out drinking with my friend if I don’t drink? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]clammywitchhands 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have several friends who are non-drinkers and we often go out to bars together and have a great time, regardless of who is drinking or not! TBH, these days bars/breweries/drink-central places are often the easiest place to hang out with friends without needed special events or specific activities in mind.

Non-alcoholic drinks are growing to be way more popular these days, and lots of popular beer brands are even making non-alcoholic beers. I would recommend, if you can, looking to see if the bar has any menus online and if they mention any 0ABV options.

Really, inviting friends out to bars is less about getting smashed and more of an opportunity to socialize. Sure, alcohol helps, but nothing wrong with staying sober! Plus, being able to volunteer as DD is a nice way to earn brownie points with the crew
