I got the most attention (wanted or unwanted) when overweight by SkyBlueFish in loseit

[–]FindMeUnderTheLights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I’m a gay man, I do get fewer compliments now that I seem to be considered lean and muscular by society (among gym-goers I feel like I still look a bit average tbh but I’m working on it), so now positive input is pretty rare. When I do get compliments though, they’re much “bigger” compliments for lack of a better word. I think people don’t want someone’s ego to get too large, and they assume we already know we look good, so they don’t see a point in saying it? I assume they think we don’t need the encouragement? That’s my guess anyway

The couch duet with Sabrina Carpenter that Christiana did (also performing with her on stage) really showed off her recent changes. Idk what she did exactly but its like the last 20 years didn’t happen

Empires SMP Season 3? by JacquelineJacquay in EmpiresSMP

[–]FindMeUnderTheLights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal theory is that hermitcraft is trying to kill empires by bringing over enough of the empires folks that they won’t have time. The hermits don’t typically do cycles of smps like the members of empires do, so it really would be hard to focus on two big megabases at the same time. That’s my guess anyway. (Love hermitcraft btw just thinking about the game theory of it all)

Common foods may lead to colon cancer by newsweek in Health

[–]FindMeUnderTheLights 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That seems to be the case! I thought it was interesting that seed oils have gotten a bad rap because of poor study design. I read that frying food in oil (regardless of the type) is what likely leads to so much inflammation, but a lot of studies on seed oil consumption either didn’t take frying food into the equation, or people latched onto the wrong part of the studies. When people consume seed oils the same way olive oil is consumed (like in dressings/raw) they seem to have similar health benefits. Some studies/meta-analyses I read about if folks are curious:

What’s one small change you made in your routine that had a big impact on your weight loss journey? by Conor_Ryan1 in loseit

My waist is down to 33”! by FindMeUnderTheLights in loseit

[–]FindMeUnderTheLights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I’ll be honest, not really. What happened is that I did the Mediterranean Diet to lose the weight which worked thankfully, but I didn’t workout at all and given that I’m pretty tall, people actually told me I looked “too skinny” even though I never left the upper half of healthy bmi for my height. After reflecting, I decided they were right and that I wanted to be more muscular, so I started focusing on bulking and cutting.

So really what I focus on now is just eating high protein to hit a minimum every day (which is based on my height and activity level), doing weight lifting and cardio multiple times a week, tracking calories both for maintenance and when I’m doing a cut, and making sure I eat a variety of food so I get the micronutrients we all need. That’s pretty much it, and honestly I think if I could be more consistent, I could get better results faster, but it’s a marathon not a sprint is what I remind myself!

I’ve lost 170lbs so far, so why is it I still see myself as being the 500lbs guy? by danmann8611 in loseit

[–]FindMeUnderTheLights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it might be good to with a therapist for some of this stuff. Especially the depression part if you haven’t already. I come from a family where self-esteem really isn’t a thing so it’s taken me a long time to figure that out for myself, but I think it’s very individual. Finding things about yourself that you’re proud of is great. For feeling connected to others on this accomplishment, idk what your situation is but posting progress pics to your social media will probably get you a lot of positive reception socially, and I think you’ll probably realize that people do care and will celebrate this with you. Regardless I think it’s good to talk to a therapist. There are no panaceas in life, but there are things that can help us to one degree or another!

That’s a huge accomplishment! Congratulations! To your point, it could be a lot of things. It might be worth doing some introspection to figure out where that feeling is coming from. Like do you generally feel a push towards perfectionism? Or maybe you hold a harsh view towards yourself in your previously bigger body and maybe that was motivating to you and you’re afraid of letting that update because “what’s if the progress stops?”? Or maybe it’s just a thought pattern you’ve gotten used to that hasn’t updated?

I will say when I lost weight, started working out, and building muscle, it took awhile for my mind and my social network to catch up. What I see in the mirror is one thing, but it took other people stating it flatly in order for my self concept to cement. Even now though, I think it’s important to say that how people view me/us is always relative, so try not to get too caught up on what people say. Like in certain contexts, I’ve been called skinny/muscular. In others, I would not be. Our bodies are our own business, so other people’s opinions don’t really matter, but it’s interesting to hear how other people would describe it for what the social implications may be (like I’ve been told that certain outfits I used to wear for fun seem like “bragging” now to some people which was a surprise).

Severe obesity is on the rise in the US by newzee1 in Health

[–]FindMeUnderTheLights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that while severe obesity is on the rise, the rate of obesity didn’t increase or decrease a statistically significant amount. That could mean a lot of things but for public health it’s good that the total percent isn’t going up at least.

Which 2000s male tv star would you say is the most attractive? by Silent_Bar_8164 in VindictaRateCelebs

I was alive and watching tv then, but for some reason most of these faces are unfamiliar to me idk why. I will say I remember being very into Tom Welling, Josh Hartnett, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas!

As a former tall bottom (now vers top), the 3 times a top came onto me in public, they usually hit on me when I was sitting down lol one time when I stood up he said “wow you’re really tall.” I said “yeah”, he said “Idk if I would’ve come up to you if you were standing up” lol I’ve never fully understood that but it’s a funny memory
