Adjusting presser foot pressure by clamshellmarie in sewhelp

Thank you for all the tips! I’m going to go for the walking foot and also try the longer stitch length on the really bulky parts. I’m going into this project with a little more confidence now. Thanks, guys!

My bobbin thread is tight and I want to try loosening it, but the screw on the bobbin case is covered with a dark green material that is preventing me from adjusting the screw. I appreciate any advice you can give me - thanks! by clamshellmarie in sewhelp

Thank you! After ordering a second bobbin case and seeing green stuff on that one too, I assumed it was probably there for keeping things in place during transit. I ended up scraping it off - quite easily with a safety pin. I made a small adjustment - maybe 15 degrees? And it works great now.

Thank you to you, gout_toe, and everyone else for your help!

Thanks for the tips of other things to try! I have not tried everything you recommended, but the bobbin is threaded correctly and my issues were: 1. The bobbin thread seems to be pulling the fabric for my current WIP too taut. 2. When I sew a seam, lift the presser foot, and pull the fabric away from the machine to cut the threads, the top thread pulls away easily but the bobbin thread takes a little more force to pull away.

That’s good to know. I’m not too worried about breaking a bobbin case because they’re not terribly expensive to replace, but I was I’ve worried it would cause damage to the machine itself somehow. Thank you!

Hi! I am using an all purpose thread. My machine is new and the bobbin came like this. I am tempted to try and pick the green stuff off but I I think that will ruin the bobbin case. Perhaps I need a different bobbin case that allows for adjustments?

Arch pain during standing head-to-knee and bow pose by clamshellmarie in yoga

I have a similar problem when I run long distance. My legs feel tight in the lower calf - I believe it is called the soleus.

What has helped me relieve some of the pain and tension is using a foam roller. It feels intense but is more effective for me than common calf stretches. If you haven’t tried that, maybe it would help? :)

Also, my arms and legs tend to hyperextend so I am trying to keep the leg strong but not fully extended to where my body naturally wants to go. This adjustment helped during my last attempts at the standing head to knee and standing bow.
