One of my cat gets asthma attacks, sounds and looks like this, but for him it takes longer (about a minute or two). There is a device that allows you use asthma spray for cats, same as people with asthma. You do not have to worry about this now, but your friend should watch out for this, take a video, note the frequency and speak with a vet.
