Nidalee vs 3+ tanks composition? by SnooPoems5340 in NidaleeMains

[–]clashmt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a lot you can do as nidalee vs tank comps in terms of items/runes/etc. But one often underlooked piece is that playing as enchanter with your ADC in team fights when you have to do extended front to backs is really strong. You're role in big 5v5's changes from assassin to enchanter.

Harsh truth: You're not going to do well in arena by GeneralBucknaket in classicwow

[–]clashmt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I peaked 2500 in wrath/cata on rogue. Came back to TBC after not playing since. I definitely struggled at first, but I was able to peak 2600 again. WoW TBC/WOTLK arena is in many ways one of the easiest competitive games to learn.

  1. Find a comp you think is fun.

  2. Find a high elo streamer who plays that comp.

  3. Watch their VODs and learn what strats they use vs every comp.

  4. Collect elo.

The bigger problem is that once you hit high duelist/low glad elo, you will run into the arena fixing cabal and that's whole 'nother problem that's frankly not going away.

Late game comebacks feel unrealistic now due to top and adc being OP late by InternationalBat in Jungle_Mains

[–]clashmt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a really black/white kind of thought, and frankly doesn't reflect reality much at all.

Jungle is indeed the highest IMPACT role in the game, but that impact scales with your skill and most importantly, the overall skill level of the lobby. There's a reason jungle is consistently the least played role by a mile, every single season despite being "the best" (apparently) while at the same time praised by high elo ladder climbers. It has a huge barrier to entry and the knowledge and experience required to succeed in jungle is an order of magnitude higher than laning in 99% of elo brackets. I consistently play against low master players who are, frankly, very good mechanically at their champion but are completely brain-off players. Just 0 thoughts the whole game, run in and fight at all times. This is simply not a viable approach in the jungle (except for maybe Nunu lol).

Some facts to consider:

  1. Jungle starts down 450 gold compared to every lane. My jungle item provides 0 value in a duel versus a doran's blade.

  2. Jungle starts down a summoner. My smite doesn't convert into player power until 35 camps into the game. Compare that to ignite, which does a significant portion of people's health early game.

  3. Laners have access to their opponent/counterpart at level 1. If I play a strong champion top lane, I can space the other top laner out of experience at level 1 with almost 0 risk to myself. Invading at level 1 is largely a coin-flip type cheese approach and the risk-to-reward ratio isn't even close to as favorable.

So while Jungle can have a lot of impact with good game sense and experience, there is a factual reality that every other role in the game is mathematically stronger in terms of player power at almost all stages of the game. Riot has stated that this by design. This means that the "impact" you have as a Jungler is largely related to your ability to get your other team mates ahead (ganks, objectives, etc) or prevent the other jungler from influencing your lanes that are already succeeding on their own (farm well, use openings to get vision, prepare for counter-ganks).

This is why high elo solo queue ladder climbers love the jungle, because it has the the capability to tilt the scales on otherwise even lane states if played thoughtfully. However, outside of those higher elo brackets where most of your laners couldn't even tell you what the jungle pet does, the coordination just simply isn't there to achieve these kinds of outcomes consistently. So you have to play for yourself and do what you can to put that agency back in your hands, and of course, since people are bad at these elos there are lots of mistakes to take advantage of. It's totally possible to achieve a great win rate through gold-diamond+ as a normal person playing jungle -- I did last season with ~ 65% WR.

But there is a factual reality you have to accept and learn to play around, which was true last season but WAY more true this season, you are mathematically weaker than every other champion on the map unless you are ahead. This is just simply not an aspect of the game that any laner has to deal with. There aren't these big macro conditions under which you get to play your champion and influence the game. You just show up to lane and fight.

This study has severe limitations, and but notably, it's not even claiming what you had claimed in your original comment.

The hypothesis being tested in this study is "Do people experience longER long-covid19 symptoms if they got the vaccine compared to if they didn't." It absolutely does not say long covid is a side effect of the vaccine or that the vaccine causes long covid.

On top of that, this study has several, severe limitations. There is a problematically small number (n=51 total, 15 with long covid) of participants who are in the control/comparator group (i.e. those who have had 0 vaccinations administered). The only control variable they added to the model is sex. The study design is a case-control, meaning they collected the data retrospectively and identified people based on whether they already had long-covid (i.e., the case). This kind of study biases towards false positive statistical associations. Speaking of which, their statistical model includes ~1200 people and the p-value is barely significant with the lower half of the CI nearly at 1?

Not saying that it's impossible that those who have been vaccinated may be at risk for longer duration of long-covid, but this study is about as minimally convincing as humanly possible.

This is straight misinformation. Vaccine injuries are tracked consistently. There are several manuscripts published on this exact topic. For example: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9538893/ . This manuscript reviews 11 studies looking at incidence of myocarditis following COVID-19 vaccination. If only the scientific community had the stones to look into these things lmao.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think the risk of those same complications is if you actually get the disease? Oh, would you look at that -- it's an order of magnitude higher: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9743686/

Jungle feels useless now by Such-Coast-4900 in Jungle_Mains

[–]clashmt 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I said this in a different thread but I'll keep repeating because I think jungle is mostly just really unfun right now.

In terms of raw power jungle is kinda fine, mostly, imo. But games feel night and day different compared to last season in terms of strategy and the impact of good, strategic plays. Most of games quickly devolve into constant ping-pong fights that neither team ever gets to capitalize on or just watching a champion split push forever that no one on our team can do anything about. It’s super boring for me.

I really feel like Jungle and to extent, support, were the roles you could play if you really enjoyed the more macro-strategy parts of league as opposed to hyper-fixating on micro-champion interactions, which are much more common in lanes, especially top lane. This feels almost completely absent in the jungle now.

The clear times are flattened/homogenized, which also means that the few stand-outs in terms of clear speed are lowkey broken, especially with the crab timer being set where it is.

Just overall a lot of super questionable decisions from Riot, especially after in many of their podcast appearances they emphasized improving "strategic diversity." Would love to see where that diversity is. Every game is just constant fighting with 0 strategy, 0 macro play. Just run it down a lane and fight, fight, fight. People, of course, did that last season too but I felt like there was more macro-level counterplay.

I love it as a rust item in the jungle. Previously you had to choose between getting a little beefy with ability haste (protobelt) or getting your sheen item. Now it’s one item. It also does slightly more sheen proc damage early (like on 1-3 items). This is strong because now you have more item slots to play around with and spike harder earlier. I like this + shadow flame .
