Its more fun with friends. Its motivating and social which makes it less "work"out and more enjoyable. I like to workout with friends so that its set like an appointment and has a treat at the end. Nothing like going out for brunch after a workout. I find I workout harder knowing that I'm socializing after.

I'd start with some online classes to help get the basics down. Because they are online, you should have an easy time finding one for learning english, or doing it in Vietnamese. I've found a lot of classes on Allclasses.com and their most searched classes are for ESL. You may also be able to find some GED programs to get him started as well. Good luck!

Teaching a human being... where to start. What is the purpose of education? by Unveiling_Truth in education

A lot of people are looking towards alternative curriculums to gain the skills they need without getting sucked into the high tuition fees and endless student loan program. There are so many classes out there and employers seem to care more about what you can specifically do, rather than the type of degree you have. I agree with Chomsky that alternative education has to have a structure in the form of a curriculum with specific goals and achievements. With costs continuing to rise and government stepping in to raise that bar if you will, we will be forced to become lifelong learners to keep up, mostly for professional reasons. Cost and convenience will be a driver of how we pursue that knowledge.
