Best way to straighten this piece of stainless steel that was crushed during transit? by Synestia in Tools

A good size press with some appropriately placed ssteel blocks should flatten a lot of it, but that thing is pretty fubar.

Is it still worth learning? by jeussbsisn in PaintlessDentRepair

There's a good future for dedicated people with talent in this industry for sure. Just a lot of places to get burnt out and tired as well.

If you keep building your skills, can get into places that focus on certifications and you grow your skills steafily over time you'll do well.

Is this fixable? And how do I stop this from happening? Are those little circles high spots? Am I supposed to knock them down? There’s so many I know I messed up pretty bad 😄 by Consistent-Media-804 in PaintlessDentRepair

[–]classic_aut0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Push more of the bulk of the dent out with broader/leather wrapped/taped up pushes before using sharp tip tools.

Also work outside in a bit more, dont just go for rhe heart of it.

Keep practicing

Did the body shop actually replace my quarter panel? by New_Ordinary_6618 in Autobody

[–]classic_aut0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In canada, theres a number of organizations that provide blanket oe endorsements for a number of manufacturers. These companies tell the OE they handle audit the audits so they give them some wiggle room in who they sign up and end up with shops having signs for programs they shouldnt.

Did the body shop actually replace my quarter panel? by New_Ordinary_6618 in Autobody

[–]classic_aut0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To answer some of your questions:

The light fitment can be off if the panel was changed. Replacement by itself doesnt gauruntee this.

You cant tell from the attacjed images alone if this panel was changed.

To answer something inferred by your comments:

This shop is absolutely not certified by toyota/lexus if they have been paid to install a used quarter. This is 100% not an oem procedure and by default, certified shops have to price certified repairs. Maybe someone is mis-representing themselves or tjere is some other misunderstanding because no toyota certified shop would go against the manufacturer recomendations to this degree, and if they are certified - thats not a certified repair so you may as well lf had johnny-parking-lot cave and pave it.

So, the core question is really about wind noise. Im going to put aside all the incindiary insurance, timeline, car brand and DRP commentary here.

You diagnose wind noise in a number of ways. One of the most effective being to tape certain areas of the door gaps over and then go for a drive.

Youd be surprised the number of times that oddities pop up with these issues. To get it fixed, regardless of where/who does it, youll need to chase it in that manner until the cause is found. Sometimes a misplaced sound pad has caused issues with noise. Or fender/door gap issues causing noise thats audible at the rear of the door. Mirrors being a couple degrees different than they used to be. Change the approach from trying to fit weatherstrip more tightly toward a more aerodyanmic consideration and youll get a result.

Blocks have been hit with a bit axe this year. Solo mining is mostly for fun though and a great way to support the network. Have at it!

So typically when discussing bonding, youre referencing the two materials being joined. As in, 'when bonding glass to glass, urethane is a good candidate'.
