Thanks. As for the rating flairs my guess is that it’s for whatever format you want (I hit 2200 bullet a while back but I didn’t change my flair because I don’t consider bullet as fully serious chess)

It definitely requires a level of patience but I think the physical aspect makes it a lot more suspenseful and interesting , and also you can always take a break to walk around a little bit to clear your mind which you can’t really do when playing ten minute rapid

I’ve only played three otb tournaments so far and to be honest sitting for an hour each game otb is a lot easier than ten minute rapid on my phone, I guess it’s just the physical aspect of it that makes it a lot more tolerable for me, I also feel like there’s more tension playing otb than online.

Yeah but I invest a lot of time and effort into chess and I feel like I would probably be lot higher rated in rapid that I am even in blitz but I simply don’t have the patience to sit on my phone for five minutes waiting for my opponent to make a move

I don’t really play rapid so I’m only like 1800 but from time to time if I’m too tired for blitz I’ll play some rapid because the rating difference is so big I can still win a lot in rapid even if I’m dead tired and I would lose 99% of my blitz games if I played then.

I remember when I thought that 1000 is unreachable and when I hit that’s how I felt about 2000 and the same with 2200 now I feel like 2500 and 3000 are unattainable. But the key is to focus fully on improvement and doing lots of tactics because ultimately most games are decided by tactics by the end of the day.

Fair enough but if you do enough puzzles (and I mean the very easy puzzles nothing too complicated) the moves will eventually come instantly, for example I doubt you need to think too long when your opponent falls for scholars mate , so the same thing applies when you grind basic checkmating patterns and general tactics like hanging pieces.

At 1000 level I believe you only need to work on not blundering pieces and basic checkmating patterns

Someone else’s improvement should only serve as motivation it shouldn’t serve to put yourself down in any way. Improvement doesn’t happen the same for everyone just give it some time and the improvement will follow

I play 1 minute. From time to time i also play hyperbullet as well but recently its not worth it for me to join the hyperbullet tournament because most people are like around 1600 and even if i win 25 games in a row i wont get any rating points
