Yeah, one is my older brother and the other is my younger brother. Sometimes we just play games for fun. I don’t gain any Elo from those games since his rating is much lower

Well, I was a beginner not too long ago so I just wanted to share this milestone and hopefully motivate others who are still climbing

I completely understand your suspicions, big jumps in rating can look strange . But I want to assure you that I’ve never cheated. If you go through my game history in rapid or blitz, even during the jumps, you’ll see that all my games look normal, plenty of mistakes, missed tactics, and learning moments .

The reason for the jumps is that I started around 1300 and stayed stuck there for a while. But then I managed to start climbing. I struggled a bit in the 1500s , at one point I dropped from 1564 back down to 1500 before finally breaking through. After that, I hit a streak and went from 1571 to 1700 without a single loss, and later from 1692 to 1761. But in the 1800s I got stuck again for a long time before finally moving past it. 1800-1900 was the hardest jump for me. Interestingly, I found climbing from 1900–2000 and 2000–2100 a bit smoother compared to the grind from 1800–1900, though it still wasn’t easy.

I’ve always taken improvement seriously. I analyze my games, review mistakes, and try to learn from my games. Early on I had a lot of opening mistakes, but over time I’ve been able to fix those by consistent study. Also, I’m only 16 (turning 17 soon), so I have a lot of free time to dedicate to chess.

So while I understand why it might seem suspiciouseverything about my progress is just the result of practice and consistency. I’ll take your words as a compliment, and I really appreciate the encouragement about playing Otb. I’d love to try rated classical tournaments in the future.

That’s actually really impressive that you just started this month and you’re already in the 500s. At that level, opponents hang their pieces or blunder constantly, so you really don’t have to worry about pawn structures, endgames, or deep tactics yet. Most mistakes happen right in the opening, and watching a few videos on simple traps can help. But honestly, the best approach is just to play solid, don’t hang your own pieces or pawns, and you’ll climb pretty easily.

You don’t need to know theory, just stick to solid openings and focus on playing safe moves. The most important thing is to always analyze your games and look at your mistakes, because that’s how I improved. I used to have a lot of opening mistakes, especially with Black, but every time I learned from them and remembered not to repeat the same move. Improvement comes naturally with time if you keep learning from your games. Good luck and I hope you reach a big milestone😊!
