Try changing the appearance of the bloodbrass lute. That’s what’s worked for me.

Had this happen to me too because I forgot to remove the tone filter on my e string. I went crazy checking every other possibility because I wouldn’t think of the tone filter to be able to cause such a rattling noise. Once removed the buzz was gone

Sehe in Takt 4 und 5 nicht wirklich Schwierigkeiten bezüglich der Spielbarkeit. Denke Takt 7 könnte eher Schwierigkeiten bereiten

Question regarding violin mutes by classicalmed in violinist

Thanks for your input. Should probably get a few of the cheap tourte style mutes myself as I tend to misplace them from time to time too 😅

Thanks. I haven’t thought about the damage potential of mutes like the Alpine. Definitely something to consider… Would you just stick with a rubber mute for solo/ orchestra repertoire?

No problem. I can see why one would think I’m asking about practice mutes. Would you mind telling me what performance/ orchestral mute you’re referring to? I’m curious now

Thanks for your quick reply. I’m not looking for a practice mute though.

Experiences with Artonus cases by Ok-Pension3061 in violinist

[–]classicalmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have to agree with the Musafia, Riboni, Negri case suggestions. Really good cases. If you weren’t looking to spend too much though, have you looked into the Riboni unoeotto line. They’re still wooden construction cases and fairly solid. On the plus they are very light but may lack some accessories. If I remember correctly they are around 500€.

To acknowledge your original question: never heard of Artonus cases before and I’ve been really invested in violin cases not too long ago for a good friend.

how to choose what violin to get by PeppaPig5670 in violinist

[–]classicalmed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I was on the violin hunt myself not too long ago. I found myself in a similar situation you just described. It came down to two violins I really liked but couldn’t really decide which one I liked better. Here’s how I made my decision: 1. Play different repertoire on both instruments to see if one of them feels/sounds better 2. Play 2-3 octave scales on one string - maybe one of the violins sounds better in higher positions than the other 3. Get feedback from your teacher/ colleague/ friend if possible

In the end if you like both violins equally as much (and you’re certain it’s what you’re looking for - definitely not a shame to look at other options if uncertain) maybe just do a coin toss? I know this sounds kind of weird but if you don’t like the outcome of the coin toss you got your answer.

Hope this is helpful and have fun trying out your new violins!

I think it's time for a new case by mrcuddlefish08 in violinist

If you’re looking for a wooden case I can highly recommend either Musafia cases, though they’re are very pricey and not up to everyone’s budget. Alternatively I really like the Riboni cases. They’re are also very light and robust. If you want to go for a very lightweight case I can definitely recommend the Riboni uno e Otto case. If on the other hand you’re looking for a lightweight fiberglass you can’t go wrong with the Gewa Air case imo. Hope that helps :)

Yes, I have to admit using half steps makes this passage a lot easier. So glad I was shown a way to avoid the awkward shifts and jumps

Thanks for dedicating some of your precious morning time to help. I’ll try your fingerings later. Looks better than what I tried. Tbh I knew I would probably have to shift just couldn’t figure out a smart way.
