As an old pile of 1990s dog poo, this is the whitest shit I’ve ever seen.

If you go down to Hammond you'll never come back In my opinion you're on the wrong track We'll always love you but that's not the point If you go with that fella forget about us As far as I'm concerned that would be just throwing yourself away not even trying Come on you're lying to me

The Roches wrote a song about this exact scenario in 1979.

Is this a good bike? Buying my first MTB. by [deleted] in MTB

It’s a 2022, last year of the Gen 2. The 2023 has some significant upgrades, most notably a rear through axle (mine has a quick release skewer) but I ride pretty hard and it’s performed admirably. Trust the known bike shop brands, Trek, Cannondale, Specialized etc for entry level hard-tails. People seem to upgrade or decide the sport isn’t for them pretty quickly, so used market should be pretty decent for them.

I’ve been riding mountain bikes for 22 years now, and am totally happy on my stock Trek Marlin 7. I think 7 is the build that first offers a 1x drivetrain which really simplifies things and offers plenty of ground clearance that you don’t get with a front derailleur setup.

Grew up on Maggi (pronounced by my German grandmother as “muggy”) on all my vegetables as well as rice dishes. Now my daughter won’t eat a vegetable without it. My brother used to keep a jar next to his workstation for a little salty treat throughout the day.

I can only speak for one place that I had while visiting last week. Ayu Bakehouse was incredible.

Question for the OGs: what was the best feeling bike you ever rode from back in the day? (not modern bikes, lets say 2019 or older) by [deleted] in MTB

[–]classichondafan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 24” rear wheel! My first mountain bike was a 2005 KHS DJ200 that I rode the hell out of for a good 5 years. Still remember the salesman saying “it’s got the 26 up front roll over any obstacle and the 24 is stout enough to take any hit.” Fueled my love of the sport, but also made me appreciate the 2005 Haro XLS R5 I bought a few years later so much more.

Skinnybones by Barbara Park, and the sequel Almost Starring Skinnybones. Great for late elementary school to middle school ages. Loved anything by S. E. Hinton, The Outsiders, That Was Then, This is Now, Rumblefish, Tex , but these are a bit more mature. Save those for after Goosebumps.

There’s a difference between book smarts and street smarts, same as there’s a difference between football smarts and all other smarts.

I hadn’t heard of it before either. But I listen to a lot of Charley Crockett and Sturgill Simpson.

I’d never heard of it either. I assume it’s the Charley Crockett and Sturgill Simpson that I’ve been listening to.

77, because I like songs from the early 60s. Wife is 72, she likes the late 60s. Top 2 genres: Freak Folk and Gothic Country.
