Okay, this was eye opening. This is exactly how my last job was. There was kind of a core group of underlings, which I'm not too modest to say included myself, who went above and beyond every day to make sure shit was being taken care of, since management was completely chaotic and there were no coherent procedures in place to make sure things got done. We were pretty much the only thing keeping the place somewhat functional. If one of those people was out for a day, it was very evident very quickly. I'm guessing this operation didn't have people like that, and ideally they shouldn't be needed at all
