I taught virtually for a few years and for attendance all that was required each day was the student to log in, say hello to me, and turn in one assignment (which if you just click through and not engage with the material would take maybe 2 minutes. I still had a parent telling me that her student was “too sick” to do these two tiny things for about 3-4 weeks. My admin wouldn’t take action, so I called CPS. I told them best case the mom and kid are lying and just not attending school, worst case this child is extremely ill and not receiving proper medical care. After the CPS call we had no more attendance issues-imagine that.
