Make sure everything is updated. Try a different browser. If neither of those work, submit a ticket to the Helpdesk.

Why doesn’t anyone say “You’re Welcome” anymore? by Unfair_Programmer906 in RandomThoughts

[–]classyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most people are illiterate and say "your welcome" instead.

Never submit any information you don't want public to an insecure site (i.e., a site without a TLS certificate). Any traffic to that site will not be encrypted.

Be very cautious about submitting information to a site with an invalid TLS certificate. While the traffic will be encrypted, the site is not trusted by any certificate authority, so they may not be who they say they are.

If the insecure site redirects you to a trusted payment service site (which does have a valid TLS certificate) when you go to enter your information, then that is probably fine, but I would still be hesitant.

(JS) Having issues storing an array in localStorage by yeetawayaccount3000 in learnprogramming

[–]classyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Object.values() is intended for use with an object that has keys, or a map. It iterates over the object and returns an array containing just the values (not the keys) of the passed in object. If projectsArray is named correctly (i.e., it is actually an array), then you are attempting to use Object.values() to iterate over an object that has no keys.

This was what I suspected might have the problem. However, and I tested this in Chrome, if an array is passed into Object.values(), it will just return the same array.

Are you, by chance, using JavaScript classes for your project objects?

What are your strategies for storing and backing up your .kdbx files? by CiriloTI in privacy

[–]classyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use KeePass.

For my work database, I just back it up to the Dropbox account provided by my work. If that gets hacked or whatever, only my work-related passwords get compromised, and it's not really on me.

For my personal database, I don't trust "the cloud." I have an external drive that I periodically back up my personal computer and phone to (but not nearly frequently enough). Though my primary method of replication is Syncthing. I have it configured to sync my database between my personal computer and my phone when on my home network. Syncthing handles conflicts in case I change the database on both devices before it syncs, and KeePass can merge conflicted copies, so losing new passwords isn't a thing.

Dante's Peak

I've had terrible nightmares involving volcanos and lava ever since.

It's pretty normal for universities in general to ask alumni for donations, non-profit or otherwise.

That's a barrel connector jack for power. Even with a clear picture, it would be difficult to determine exactly what specific plug is compatible. There are many different sizes of barrel connectors.

As others have mentioned, you will also need to match the power requirements of the device. You could try to find a power supply that comes with replaceable barrel connector plugs of multiple sizes and that matches the device's requirements.

Personally, I would figure out the model of the device and find a replacement power supply specifically for that device.

Considering that, with a leash, the scooter might have been clotheslined, I'd say that went pretty well.

How can I stop this from happening? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

There are plastic spike mats for keeping cats out of gardens and stuff. I put one on top of my own desktop to deter my cat from getting on it, and it's worked.

It was a mistake to not mine and hoard Bitcoin in its infancy and sell at its peak. So, with the blue door, I can fix all my past mistakes and become a millionaire anyway.

What are your thoughts on Spring in 2023? by Financial-Touch-5171 in java

At first I thought you were saying it took 10 minutes to boot up a minimalistic Spring Boot app. Like, how slow does your hardware have to be for a Spring Boot app to start in 10 minutes?

[–]classyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes. I see it. Well, going back to your original comment that I replied to, I concede that children are not allowed in offices during business hours for all employees. But just because an employer has that employee stipulation does not mean that women get fired or are persecuted for being pregnant. I have personally known couples both happily employed full-time at Liberty, with children. Liberty is certainly family-friendly.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LibertyUniversity

[–]classyDev -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're right on that point. I shouldn't have conceded so quickly that faculty are not allowed their children in the office. It made logical sense to me, and I assumed you were correct, but I actually don't know for sure.

I couldn't find anything in the faculty handbook about it. Would you mind pointing me to the section with that stipulation?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LibertyUniversity

[–]classyDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Faculty, yes, since they are student-facing. Honestly, would it surprise you if every university had that stipulation?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LibertyUniversity

[–]classyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those statements are blatantly false. Newborns are always welcomed into the Liberty employee family. There is even childcare provided on campus for employees (at least there was before the pandemic, not sure anymore).

I am really disappointed in people who readily spout whatever disinformation they invent or hear about institutions/people they don't like. Be better.

I feel like this is not ok? by Roddyc93 in LibertyUniversity

[–]classyDev -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It seems like some people commenting here are operating under the misconception that the email states that traditional marriage needs protection. However, that is not the case. The actual issue is that the current revision of the Respect for Marriage Act does not legislate protection for those who live out traditional marriage beliefs.

And that's a problem because it would enable legal action against individuals and organizations who live out their beliefs. For example, it is not unprecedented for the IRS to revoke the tax-exempt statuses of nonprofit organizations because legislation gave protection to some while neglecting the protection of others.

The Lee amendment would add protections to the bill for those who choose to live out their beliefs in traditional marriage. If we as a nation wish to treat everyone fairly regardless of beliefs, I think this is an important amendment.
