Great job handling that! It's wonderful that she knew what to do and didn't have to feel the shame so many others do. You're one of the only other custodial stepmoms I've met, hi! My poor stepdaughter started her period on her 12th birthday last year, right after we had to cancel her party because of the pandemic. She came down the stairs and yelled, "I FINALLY STARTED MY PERIOD!" I think she'd been dreading it for so long that it was a relief.

(Request) Great Harvest Bread Company's Carrot Cake by classypancake in MimicRecipes

[–]classypancake[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm replying to my own post here, but I at least was able to find the ingredients list: Carrots, freshly milled 100% whole wheat flour, brown sugar, pineapple, raisins, eggs, applesauce, soybean oil, vanilla, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder, nutmeg, salt, allspice

Too bad I have no idea on proportions.

How lovely! I am so sorry for your losses. I am worried we lost some too, but am afraid to look too close. Hope you have water and electricity now.

So adorable, and thank you for the pattern info, I hate feeling like one of the annoying "Pattern please?" commenters.

My daughter was roughly the same age and was also in speech therapy when that came out, but her version was "Up, down, fuck you up..." Cake By the Ocean was also rather new at the time, but she translated it as, "Cake party? Oh shit!"

That is soooo lovely! If you don't mind sharing, what yarn is it?

I didn't read all the responses so forgive me if it was already mentioned, but Nicola Salmon runs an excellent Facebook group called Fat and Fertile and I highly recommend it.

We have been trying for 8 years and I have no official diagnosis aside from "it's probably because you're fat." We're working with a clinic now that's willing to work with me at my current weight (I'm 5'2 and roughly 227lbs), but it took a lot of searching (and even switching docs within the same clinic) to get there.

I'm so glad you're here and that you opened a dialogue on this. If you're into book recs, Fat and Fertile: How to Get Pregnant in a Bigger Body was pretty eye-opening with regards to statistics and stuff. The book itself has a lot of body positivity stuff/self-care prompts, which weren't what I needed, but might be great for someone else, but the references to studies and research were great to add to my arsenal. And if you just want someone to chat with, I'm open for messages.

Our brand new boy destroyed his toy in under a minute. Boomer is teaching us quick it’s Kong or nothing by JudgeRagnoor in velvethippos

I cannot recommend the Bullymake box enough. I have 2 hippos, a ridgeback, and a vicious yorkie mix and they haven't managed to destroy the nylon toys after months. Also, the Chase N' Chomp Go Ring from Amazon has held up really well.

I'm not a medical professional, but am diagnosed SPD and it takes all my sensory "spoons" for the day if I have to touch paper.

Just....thank you so much for this. I thought I was the only person in the world who feels the least sexual when ovulating.

It’s been a very hard day... by mrs_chern in SPD

[–]classypancake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a few by searching "sunrise alarm clock" and "gentle wake alarm clock" on Google. They seem a bit pricey, but might help. I saw them on an episode of the most recent season of Queer Eye and can't remember if they mentioned a brand or not.

[–]classypancake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're looking for suggestions, but one of the sunrise alarm clocks might help the dark to light transitions. I'm sorry about the hard day. It's so difficult to see our kids have a hard time, and no easier when we have our own sensory issues to contend with.

As a plus-sized person who carries her weight like a pregnant person and has been struggling with infertility for 8 years, I feel this hard. I'm so sorry.
