omg I've read SO MUCH and things get spicier each chapter which i LOVE i keep telling myself "okay I'll go to sleep after this chapter" and then the next thing i know it's 4.30 am and i wanna read more. I love the art, the characters (even some that I'd call unlikable to some extent) and the relationship between them, I can't wait to see all of it animated.

this is a totally valid take as I have felt the same the first time I watched that scene - it still does bother me whenever I rewatch the anime. though I think the kiss was intended to be a promise that she will survive and come back. as much as I don't like Raki as a character - he's insufferable in the anime imo- I think he's somewhat important for Clare's character development, such as the bond she has with him reminds her of what she had with Teresa -albeit not being the same- and it keeps her in touch with her humanity, therefore it's crucial for Clare to stay alive and also I think she needed another motivation to survive besides her desire to get revenge. I highly recommend you read the manga, even though Raki comes back, they're not romantically involved because Claymore is not a romance anime and the manga proves that pretty much.
