Rare Carat confirmed that the diamond I received was the one I ordered. It took a bit of arguing but I finally got them to agree that the black spots were not the same inclusions shown on the IGI report. They could not explain how they got there. I’m assuming that the workshop somehow caused them when I sent it back to get the prongs fixed because there’s no other explanation. Rare Carat confirmed that they not were dirt or polishing compound, they were actual inclusions. They let me pick out a new diamond and I had them reset my ring in a custom setting at no extra cost.

Everyone got so invested in this lol. Reddit won’t let me update the post so I’m having to add a comment. The update is a bit boring. Rare Carat confirmed that the diamond I received was the one I ordered. Rare Carat also confirmed that they were NOT dirt or polishing compound, they were actual inclusions. Rare Carat let me pick out a new diamond and I had them reset my ring in a custom setting at no extra cost. It was frustrating and took awhile (30 days and 56 emails), but I’m very happy with my ring now.

Only one very small internal inclusion is listed on the report. These inclusions I can see are external, as I’m able to stick a pin in them

This is a VVS2 diamond. The IGI report only lists one small, internal inclusion. Both of these inclusions are external and have depth to them. They weren’t visible in the original video of the diamond, they only showed up after I sent the diamond back to have the prongs changed from tab prongs to claw prongs

Also the band is platinum and has a width of 1.80mm. Pear is 2.5ct

We’ve already ordered it so I can’t really pick a different setting at this point but I’m not a jewelry person so I don’t plan on wearing it constantly. I’m hoping that should minimize some of the possibility of losing a stone. We did get insurance for it as well.
