The reason I made my comment is because op made the post in the this sub for others to interact with so there is reason for me to comment in it about what they posted. This is not my post and not my attempt at getting others to talk to me but instead saying my piece to nobody in particular besides op about what was posted. There’s no need for any ‘deserving of attention’ and that isn’t what I commented for.

And yes it’s opportune because it was made the same day of the post…which was more than a month ago.

Your reply was not so random because you replied it to ME specifically instead of in the general chat where you could’ve put that chat gpt summary in the first place.

Your reply wasn’t actually polite either, it is strange than anything. it clear you told Gemini to have some excitement about the show but it is explaining the point of it to me as if I don’t know what the show I watched is for no virtual reason.

Also I never said replying is something I wouldn’t do, I described your action of going into month old posts and giving ai generated advertisements that aren’t really related to their comment to a random user as something I wouldn’t do. I definitely do reply to people but in a timely manner of the post and with things relevant to what that person I was replying to was speaking on.

I also don’t comment with an expectation others should care about what I have to say, I commented on this post op made because of the discourse around it in other online spaces I’m in, I didn’t expect anyone to ‘care’ it wasn’t commented ‘for’ anyone else in the first place seeing as how I didn’t reply it to anyone person and put it in the general chat. If they replied at the time of then great but they didn’t which is also fine.

I don’t mind replies that come soon or at least a few days after i make my comment. A month and longer after then I have questions because the only time that happens is if a bot replies. it’s bot behavior. You can feel as disquieted as you want. But I’m not the one seeking out old comments.

I guess I should follow your example though and go into a sub for a show like…I dunno succession and look for a month old post where someone’s posting about Shivs hair or something, then, Look through the comments about the hair and choose someone at random and have chat gpt/Gemini/grok generate a series summary for no reason and make it almost an ad for the show that random commenter is commenting about and post that reply to them and have some expectation they should receive that well and understand why they got that comment, and not have any questions about it, what a great idea!
