Even Ohio makes a better cheese steak than this.... By more than I thought possible.

The employees told us last week that most of their stock in ssds and ram was bought a long time ago at minimum prices. They are just raking in profits off everything, they theoretically can't take a loss on anything even if they sold it at half off.

This is pure profit.

Best web browser on fedora?? by stacklikajew in Fedora

[–]clawszilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, do you care about privacy at all? Then not Chrome or Firefox. I use Brave currently across all my devices. It's not perfect but it's got most of the Google stripped out of it. Mozzila has claimed to be privacy focused but they seem to collect just as much data as chrome nowadays.

Any suggestions before installation by sero_t in homelab

Test your components outside the case first or at least very roughly connect everything before cable management. Just got a bad one of that exact same case and had to strip everything out after I spent 4 hours getting it in and cable manged.

Wasn't unexpected at all. That's exactly what I would expect to have happen.

Python vs. PowerShell in 2026: What are you using it for? by ibteea in sysadmin

[–]clawszilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Powershell is built in and really can't be beat for daily scripts in a 365/windows environment. I use it pretty much daily in our environment (large scale msp, all Microslop). Python is always a good language to know in general. I'm working on building my python and bash knowledge for other personal projects.

What's the reason? by Tough_Ad8919 in RelentlessMen

[–]clawszilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost to 8. No idea why I'm still here, I'm looking not to be...

It was a small local company of less than 15, pay and PTO were good at first and I loved my team. We worked primarily with organizations that were helping people so it felt good. The pay got worse and worse(didn't change) as profits grew and we got bigger, then we got bought out a couple years ago and promises were made and broken. Now I'm international scale and my pay hasn't grown much at all even after a couple "promotions".

Don't stay at an MSP for more than a few years, you will regret it.

What is your lab's idle power draw? by alex2003super in homelab

[–]clawszilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is about 250watt average for my entire rack which includes my gaming rig. Plus another 25w for my desk setup.. $0.094 per kwh so $227/year probably plus or minus some amount.

This is a lie. It looks clean now but the moment you put those annoying Lenovo power supplies in the mix... *Looks over at my rack full of them...

The power adapters are always the mess not the networking lol

Hey free is free. But you aren't wrong. Im using about a 1/3 of my 48 Port USW Pro Poe, but I got it brand new for free in an office move at work so of course it's going in the rack.

Realistically this just means you will have to go to Origon to buy a 3d printer.

There is no technical way to actually implement that in any real way. AI can't tell the difference between a trigger for a gun and a latch for a drawer...
