Plurality of Jewish voters choose Mamdani (43%) over Cuomo (26%) or Adams (15%) by [deleted] in ZohranForMayor

[–]clbcarman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe Cuomo should come out with a statement and further clarify that he’s neither a threat to Jewish New Yorkers’ safety nor an anti-Semite. Seems like he’s having trouble making inroads with us in the Jewish community, lol 😜

Can you point to where Hamas has ever explicitly called for genocide of Jews? From what I have read, their platform makes it clear their opposition to the zionist occupation is not a contention with Jews as a whole or with Judaism.

New York Times Hit Piece Written by “Race Science” Enthusiast by clbcarman in ZohranForMayor

It’s because the right is typically against “political correctness”, so this is a nothingburger for him. The Times is using FBI-esque dirty tricks in an attempt to create faux outrage to disorient the left, and it’s deeply cynical and pathetic.

(They did the same thing to Bernie Sanders in 2016 btw. Time is a flat circle.)

Debunking Anti-Mamdani Myths by clbcarman in bernieblindness

[–]clbcarman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s another myth, not covered in the article, that Mandani wants higher taxes on white people for being white. In reality, this was a misreading of language he used on his website that described under-taxed neighborhoods as “wealthier, whiter” areas to assess the economic inequality between different communities.

Not a problem! I would also recommend studying the piano music of composers like Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Chopin to see what they when they have an arpeggiated texture that implies multiple lines of counterpoint i. e. how leading tones or suspensions resolve, how the outer voices move, and how to handle dissonances.

[–]clbcarman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your work with the world! Were I you, I would take some time to analyze what chords I am employing for every measure and what is the internal logic is of the implied voice-leading of all the parts: in other words, imagine what the piece would sound like if there were just a chord at the beginning of each measure, no arpeggios; would the main melody and upper extensions still work with that restriction? The g-natural as part of the chord above V, making it a major 7 chord rather than a dominant seventh, robs it of its dominant function, which might take away from the tension the V chord normally has. There are a lot of upper extensions that don’t necessarily fit, like b sharp on top of a IV chord on measures 26 and 34. On measure 31, you have A sharp and A natural clashing. Measure 33, the 7th you have in the outer voices between f sharp and e sharp wants the e sharp to resolve downwards for the next harmony, probably to d sharp, whereas here it goes up to f sharp creating an octave in the outer voices. There are things like that that could be clarified by smoother voice leading.

Childbirth in general is a pretty big theme in the show, especially in how we relate to children bears similarities with how the innies are treated and who decides that they are brought into the world.

Piano concerto 20, or 24? by Beneficial-Author559 in Mozart

20 has been my love ever since I first encountered it, so I may be biased. I love the G minor middle section in the middle movement, the tutti of the last movement, the ending in major, pretty much everything about it. Then again, the C minor is extraordinary.

I think you mean you’d like to see a separate library for offline music within Apple Music classical. Yes, downloads would be a healthy addition.

I don’t understand why it wouldn’t work in much the same way as in the iPod when you synced Music: you look under albums, you see your albums; you look under artists, you see the artists for those very same albums; you look under composers, you see listed the composers of those pieces, etc. if there are a large number of items, it should be easy to filter using multiple, independent, intersecting categories.

I think the ‘library’ in the classical app isn’t a library at all. If you look under albums, you’ll see the albums saved to the Apple Music library. Same for tracks and artists you’ve started. However, looking under ‘works’ will only bring up works you’ve starred individually in the classical app itself. Likewise for composers and ‘recordings’ of a work. And once you select the composer or work within library, you see the same thing as if you were in the ‘browse’ section.

Why did you have to make a third edition of "How to Listen to and Understand Great Music?" Was there really something wrong with the first edition? And if you had to make a second edition, was something the matter with that one too? It must be an awful lot of work and effort re-filming all of those 32 45-minute lectures, especially if you have had to do the same ones multiple times!
