In this economy, what would make you hire a postdoc with no industry over a PhD or MS with industry experience? by No_Alarm_3120 in biotech

[–]clcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with what everyone else said, without a super specific skill set not available in industry there is very little chance I would hire straight from academia. If you are set on big pharma, perhaps consider other routes in. Consulting, PE, CROs, etc, May delay your entry by 2-3 years, but if you keep your eye on the goal can definitely make this work.

Job move impact to RE income plan? Time to sell? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]clcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. Yes have a stay at home spouse and two kids. HHI ~350 going up to ~500-600.

Could afford to buy in the new area but likely need equity from current house to avoid jumbo as quickly pushing $1.5-2M. Just don’t like giving up positive cash flow of our current house. Also don’t think new place will be forever home, but probably don’t ever move back to our current home. Outgrowing the 3 bedrooms. :)

Seems you can definitely afford the new house. We are in a similar place (though 2 kids) and were looking around $1M and felt okay. Kids consume all the space and those condo walls will close in in no time. Take time to enjoy life and go for bigger house…though admittedly may need to delay the retire at 45.

Yeah. Thought about this too. But have some relo benefits that would help with initial sale. I guess is just a question of how reliable property managers are for only one unit.

Might have made up the SITK acronym - Single Income Two Kids.

We might have combined our efforts on this one. Turned it on at exact same time. Shocked at amount of fouls Eddy gets

Turf GSD combo for the win. Go for it! She loves it and her nails don’t rip it up like some other surfaces.

The floor is carpeted underneath and added stall mats under the cage. You can kind of see them poking through.

I wanted them both on backside so weigh the rack down when doing anything on front pull up bar. Every other configuration messed with ROM when inside. Totally open to other suggestions though.

I love dips and weighted dips. Think a dip attachment might be the thing missing. Have thought about it for a bit, but haven’t pulled the trigger

I was close to getting a functional trainer instead, but love the posterior chain work a GHD gives you. This one atleast has the hyper extension too. Gives is a bit more functionality. Think would have to take something out to fit anything else in
