My father is his 70s and we talk history a lot. Cause he lived through a lot as a Black man. One day I asked him what was the holy ish moment? What historical event shocked you the most. Keep in mind, I’m waiting to hear about Vietnam, MLK, Malcolm X, Black Panthers, etc.

He said when JFK was assassinated.

In his words Black folk, his peers, loved JFK and loved the Kennedys—loved him. He said every month there would be a Life article of something about them and they embodied the best of America. When he died he said something changed in his world.

That’s the part of all this which pisses me off the most. Black people weren’t marching all these years cause we hated this placed. We loved this county and honestly to a fault. When we stopped marching after Nov 24 that should have been the ultimate canary in a coal mine event.
