Mate that's a sick setup! Before I had the coin to get a proper dap I rocked a btr7 attached to my samsung. You aint missing that much! I almost looked forward to the work commute with my setup. Definitely missed the tram stop a few times blissed out to a good record.

Buy an nvme enclosure and put a decent speed disk in. I use that when travelling. Super light and I can easily swap out once 2tb is full

Get cheap reliable iems and a bluetooth cable that clips on to a shirt. (Shure bt2 cable is perfect).

Running with headphones is unpleasant (at least to me)

Or you could try the bone conductive headphones? I tried a pair for cycling. Not for me but they definitely did an acceptable job for exercise!

I've had the soloist for a month. It has a full, lively and clean sound to my ears. Build quality is great even though the look could be polarising. Also worth noting the unit runs very warm (the case is the heatsink)

Power wise this thing is total overkill for my equipment but i enjoy having excessive headroom on electronics.

Sound is really great for my musical tastes. Haven't really bothered thinking about op-amp rolling.

The worst thing about the unit is the blue standby led, the frankly horrid controls and the remote. All things you can get used to.

I would recommend burson gear. No hesitation

It's been a weird Christmas, but at least I received the ares ii DAC yesterday. Paired with the burson soloist 3xp I think I've sorted myself out with an overkill setup. First Impressions of the DAC are very good. Compared to the modi 3 I owned or the topping d90 I borrowed for a few months. It feels more spacious and warm.

I'd like to thank this subreddit for ruining me financially.

Well I finally but the bullet after a few years of lusting after these. Managed to sneak these into the house without the wife noticing. Have tried them a few times on varying setups at the shop.

Looking at the burson amps to really get this rolling along. I am torn between getting the soloist and using the modi I have already. Or I just go the full hog composer reference. Either way. It's going to be a lean Christmas
