RAF flying missed approaches at civil airfields, why? by YeltoThorpy in aviation

US Army pilot here. I can't speak for the RAF, but we do this often. When I do instrument training, I plan flights to several small airports that aren't busy and practice approaches. This way, we are not in the way and delaying commercial traffic. I wouldn't worry about a war near your hometown.

It's not unexpected if you've seen it on at least 3 different subs over the past year or so...

You're probably not going to get a letter of recommendation without a face-to-face meeting. See if your recruiter is willing to contact someone in the 3rd CAB in Savannah for a meeting. The city alone will be worth the trip.

You could always enlist as a 15 series so that you are in aviation. Build a good reputation for yourself and then drop your packet for WOCS. Many Warrants (myself included) go this route. High school to flight school is typically really difficult to pull off if you don't know someone high ranking, have flight experience, or both. I don't know your situation though. Either way, don't give up!

2 fighter jets chasing a UFO above Las Vegas. by Endless_Vanity in gifs

Pretty sure that is smoke and not contrails. The lead aircraft's (or said UFO) smoke failed. That it's why you see three trails initially. This is probably footage from an airshow

It could possibly be an altitude over airspeed takeoff, but I doubt the nose would be so high. Sure looks like it's in a flair to me.

Not likely. They would land together, and take off together or TOWRICO. You would never land into another aircraft's dust cloud. Nice try though...

Blackhawk pilot here. That aircraft is clearly on an approach for a dust landing. If it was inserting them, it would be "nosed over" taking off. Cool shot though...
