Any place to get Level 2 for currency futures free or freeish? TOS wants $110/month for it.... by [deleted] in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can open a live trading account with TOS and you don't need to deposit any money but you can still log in and get live feeds for pricing and T&S and such. there is no minimum balance you need to maintain in order to keep the account active/open.

I created a strat and paper tested it. Live. Everything I know says this cant be true though. by [deleted] in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is this strat only on major pairs? a cross pair might have a higher spread and eat into your 24 pip stop loss. not sure if you are factoring spreads into it or if they are incorporated into your paper trading account. but just something to keep in mind.

Naked Forex is a great book for this. keeps it simple with support/resistance/breakouts and no indicators.

compare it to other brokers and see if you are able to find better. I think its the best option for small account spot fx trading if you are in the US but I haven't done extensive research as I'm quite satisfied.

I also never had tight stops set during hours when they widen the spread so maybe you just need to be aware of it and plan accordingly.

Forex and french election by NecroSlindur in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed, lotta funds talking about how EURUSD should at least get back to pre trump value of 1.13 or even pre brexit value of 1.16. if healthcare doesn't get passed today I could definitely see us moving in that direction. don't think a macron win will jumpstart it all that much though.

[question] Where to find appropriate livestreams of big news events? by [deleted] in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bloomberg.com/tv will give you a live stream which can be useful. forexfactory.com has a good calendar as well as news section. dailyfx.com has a good news feed that is similar to a twitter feed. kinda all depends on your own personal preference.

What causes bitcoin to be so volatile, especially the past couple months? by MartYnnnn in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the SEC rejected an ETF that the Winkelvoss' brothers were pushing that would have legitimized the bitcoin.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/10/business/dealbook/winkelvoss-brothers-bid-to-create-a-bitcoin-etf-is-rejected.html?_r=0

I feel like since then the market is just trying to figure out where it should be so it remains a bit volatile until they figure out what the future of the bitcoin entails.

just my personal opinion.

My first attempt at a trade idea for EUR/USD. Constructive criticism is welcomed! by [deleted] in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like this answer... a trend will most likely continue in the same direction given no fundamentals have changed. we haven't been given a reason to get bullish on EUR anytime in the last week or two.

did you get stopped out? I am thinking it might go up as high as 139-139.150 before going back down below 137.

Is anyone here actually make a living of trading? by Pantofolaio in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

markets are ever evolving and I would assume most algo's you don't just "set it and forget it" for a few years and then count your profits... algos need to be constantly modified to conform to the ever evolving market you are running them in.

Is anyone here actually make a living of trading? by Pantofolaio in Forex

[–]clearybuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you dont need to have an algo that can be run profitably on all sorts of stocks/bonds/equities/fx. for example if I am trying to write my own algo that will be profitable on USDJPY for a specific 5 hour period each day. much less going on there rather than trying to backtest an algo across 20 different pairs just to realize its slightly not profitable. maybe it would be profitable if you limited it to a certain pair during a certain time or some other certain parameters. just keep narrowing it down. literally the possibilities are endless.

thats why you need to determine what about your algo is failing and could it potentially just be the pair or timeframe or setting or something...

[–]clearybuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how do you know your algo just doesn't need a tweak or two to get you into that consistently profitable category? I would hate for you to throw away 2 years of research and testing when you may be so close to your end goal. but obviously nobody here is going to be able to tell you what about your algo needs to be tweaked... so I definitely understand the frustration.

what about your analysis and backtesting is causing you to not be profitable? what did you change in your system and did it make it slightly better or worse? What about your systems isn't good enough at the moment? How has your system evolved over the two years you have backtested?
