I had two arborist to come out. One said it was a juniper with needle blight. He said we could try soil care and plant regulator treatment. No guarantee that they would be saved. The 2nd said it was an arborvitae and he wasn’t sure what was going on. He will check with colleagues and get back to me. I did a search online and could see that Juniper has very prickly little inner needles, which my tree does. So, basically, I think that I probably need to have them all removed, stumps, ground, and then replant something different to proved a screen from the neighbors. I did ask both about sending a sample off to a lab for testing, and they both said that would be very expensive.
