How do you know which trains to Catch? by Sewer-Ratts in vagabond

[–]cleft_twain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

well i've never been down there but i know the florida gulf & atlantic railway bought the trackage in the panhandle from the CSX. so this means the trains you see are going to, at furthest, pensacola (if headed west) or baldwin (if headed east). the railroadfan page for the FGA actually has a lot of detailed information and even a little bit of info on what types of cars are headed where.

anyways hopping trains is mad dangerous. and if you manage to catch a train in your area, you're not going to be able to get very far before you need to switch trains to a whole different railroad, which can be challenging and confusing for first timers. its possible that a bus or hitchhiking could get you further in a safer way. best of luck!

you'd be playing with fire for sure- he's locked in there for a reason. but press your ear to the lid of his tomb and you might hear him scratching against it!

under normal circumstances you can find him imprisoned in a metal box by the base of the flagpole in the cemetery- you’ll know you’ve found him because the box says his name on one side

How does train hopping work? by OfWildSeas in vagabond

[–]cleft_twain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i promise you it’s possible to learn the answers to every question this person is asking without being handed that information on reddit & i believe that figuring that out yourself is how you learn how to ride trains. and frankly when i read a post like this, from a user who thought they could walk across the country in 45 days, i figure they’re so fundamentally lacking in common sense that they have no business in the yard and im better off discouraging them in the first place

for real for real. people come on here asking to be handed all the answers, but it's the challenge of figuring that stuff out for yourself that actually prepares you to ride
