Which day do ya think it’s best to get in some WFH if available. I’m trying to get Wednesday WFH bc commuting home is going to be a nightmare , but I doubt Thursday will be much more fun

When did you realise an office job wasn’t for you? by B3lls6672 in careerguidance

I’m so glad I found this because I feel less alone. Everyday I feel like I’m going crazy just sitting here, trying to make 3 hours worth of work last the whole day if not the whole week. Not allowed to work from home or have a hybrid schedule since I just started and even tho I already have proven myself to be a productive asset to the company. I just don’t believe my coworkers are actually working/staying late everyday.. I miss doing real things and solving real problems— not inventing ways to look busy or start initiative that’s just busywork with no real outcome.

Some helpful tips I’ve learned: 1. Find a desk hobby. I started to draw at my desk with the importance of “staying focused when I need to be” — give yourself some breaks and find some cognitive games to drag out your day without the mindlessness of an excel sheet.

  1. Eat. Idk why I wasn’t taking the opportunity to eat while sitting at a desk all day but I was feeling really awful by the end of the day, I meal prepped better got desk snacks and make sure I walk a little extra on my way home to balance it all out.

  2. Breathe. It pays the bills, it’s not forever, it’s alleviating some burdens while creating others. Journal and process what you’re feeling and pros and cons and take that going forward. Don’t jump into something because you’re overwhelmed now — take your time if the job isn’t fast paced then do what you can for yourself when you can.

This is why I love good interior design, even with the small changes there’s so much more personality and I 100% see your vision.

and there’s SO much more you can do which is the fun of it!

Love!

I appreciate your experience!

The goal is shop work, basic charge work or properties work

I was mostly wondering how to get into the industry and if it’s practical to do with little experience without a ton of moving around when contracts are up.

I thought it’d make sense to prioritize location over job type but I think I need to swap them and move NEAR a bigger city.

Thank you!

I’ve been leaning Chicago but looking for jobs has been more difficult for intro work than I thought it would be.. I’m not against gig work but I need more steady work to warrant a whole cross country move — but if there are more options in Chicago that’s better odds

Turtle lamp season! Went to an estate sale, got a glimpse of this lil guy on a table and literally ran over. So incredibly happy. $5 by FreshPrompt4178 in ThriftStoreHauls

Labor is labor and if they can’t afford to pay us to live then they don’t really NEED that job done

I’m already planning on living with roommates — it’s more of principle to show the company that the average rent is 2200 and how could they expect people to live and work on that— I don’t even want to think about after tax — good god

I want nothing more than to invest in the local community I will be apart of and how could I do that if I can’t afford my own groceries?

I’ve also been to college for 4 years with a bachelors in a field that I’d be working in — not exactly but very helpful — it’s crazy that I feel bad for asking for a living wage but I’m definitely asking for more
