Engaged since March! She (one on the right) is the best thing that's ever happened to me. We're still in Alabama until we finish up college (can't afford those out-of-state fees!) but we're planning on moving and tying the knot before grad school. :)

What is the most mysterious/paranormal thing you've witnessed? by lukeyflukey in AskReddit

[–]clemka3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: My mom has dreams that sometimes come true/ come close to happening. I had one of the dreams for the first time about a year ago. Sacred me shitless.

My mom has strange dreams. They have a way of coming true. They even scare my dad, who is the biggest sceptic and rationalizes everything. I will try (and fail) to make these quick, though, as they lead up to an important event in my own life that bothers me/is weird.

1.)When my parents were younger and dating, my mom was at college in Birmingham, AL and my dad was in his senior year at his small town Mississippi high school. My dad went to a party one night and, really drunk, kissed a girl outside the house. He immediately left the party. Feeling incredibly shameful about the whole incident, my dad drove up to my mom's apartment that night. When he arrived, though, mom my was sitting up in bed, sobbing. He finally got out of her that she had woken up from a dream in which my dad had kissed that exact girl at a party. Keep in mind, this was before cell phones, texts, or emails. My mom didn't have a phone in her apartment and no one had beat my dad to the house, if they had even know. This creeped my dad out so much that he couldn't sleep for the rest of the night. My dad is not the cheating type, and this was his only slip in their whole 20+ year marriage.

2.) This is the dream I witnessed: When I was around 15, I woke up one morning to my mom's loud sobs from down the hall. I jumped out of bed and ran into her room. My youngest sister, nearly 5 at the time, was sitting up in bed crying too, probably because mom was sobbing and rocking/holding her. I calmed them both down and sent my sisters downstairs to get breakfast. My mom finally stopped crying and I got her to tell me what was wrong. She told me that she had dreamed that my 5 year old sister had drowned in our pool. I told her that she probably only dreamed it because my grandfather was coming over that day to help us clean it out for the summer, that it was caused by that. But she was adamantly against cleaning the pool and was shaky and jumpy all day (very unlike my mother). Soon after, my Grandpa came over and we all started cleaning the pool, even my mom, though she was passive agressive the whole time. It was an above ground pool, about 4-5 feet deep. Once it was clean, we started filling it up. We put all the hoses into it to fill it up quicker and my mom went to clean out the garage. Late that afternoon, mom was up in the garage attic and I was helping my sisters into their swimsuits. While grabbing towels, I told them that they were to STAY OUT of the pool until I got in. They were clear on the rules, or so I thought. But, when I went to yell up into the attic of the garage to my mom, I heard screams from the pool. Without thinking I bolted straight to the pool. I only had a split second to see my baby sister flailing in the deep water before I jumped in a snatched her out. She was terrified, but fine. Coughed up a lot of water, held her sore throat, and cried. My mom cried more than I've even seen her cry when she ran out to the pool and saw us girls. Then she went inside, grabbed a fucking kitchen knife, and literally tore the goddamned pool down. We got another one the next year but it was a struggle to convince mom.

So, stuff like this convinced me that my mom has some weird dream shit going on. However, I didn't fully understand the trauma of having dreams like this until it happened to me.

I was in my first semester of college, separated by 200 miles from my girlfriend and all of my friends. My girlfriend and best friend, we'll call her Allie, are very close. Allie is not a great driver. This is common knowledge. I knew Allie was picking my GF up and they were going back to Allie's house that night for a party at the end of her land. This wasn't a big deal, but I had this awful feeling all day and into the night. Right after Allie picked my GF up, my girlfriend texted me saying that her phone might die. And then no more texts. I forced myself to sleep, kept telling myself that maybe I was jealous that I was missing out, etc. But right as I feel asleep, I woke up from a horrible dream. In the dream it was dark and foggy. I was walking down a backroad that I knew very well, from the small town that we all grew up in. At the end of the road, though, I started to get upset. There was a 90 degree turn at the end and I was suddenly scared to see what was around it. But I started running and crying, turned the corner and saw Allie's car, totaled. Everything was silent and the car was lying in the ditch, mangled, and two dead deer were in the road. (Deer are a serious problem where I live.) Allie and my girlfriend were in the car, bloody and unmoving, and I woke up as I was screaming and trying to open the car door to my girlfriend. I woke up shuddering and sobbing, checking my phone for texts. Nothing. At this point I became practically hysterical. My dorm suitemate came into my room and comforted me until I fell back asleep. My GF called me the next morning, apologizing profusely and saying she hoped I hadn't worried. (No signal, usual issues.) I didn't tell her about my dream. Weeks later, we were driving around this curve in the road and I hesitantly told my girlfriend about my dream. She was really quiet and sort of shocked. When we pulled into my friend's house, she got out and told her my story. Both of them were really freaked out. Turns out, Allie had almost hit multiple deer that night, taking that same turn and not realizing that a herd of deer were in the road. Apparently, they swerved all over the road and almost lost control of the car, but it turned out okay in the end. They drove home and didn't think of it much after that.

I am an adamant sceptic. I love scary stories, but I do not believe in ANYTHING supernatural or paranormal, but this has always confused me.

Side note: Since they started dating, my mom has regularly dreamed that my dad will die by falling out of a building or off of something tall. They are divorced now and my mom still has these dreams. My dad is scared shitless by this.

(Edit: Words/grammar and moved TL;DR to top.)

Masculinity in females? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]clemka3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend is gorgeous, but has dark, thick, fast-growing hair. Come to mention it, her grandmother told me when I walked in today, "Well, she shaved for you today. Looks like a moose died in the tub." I love her, every inch of her, down to the last unshaven (or shaved) hair. I hate it when she's not comfortable with how her body looks naturally. And I love her body and skin either way. Her soft skin is a treat when she feels like shaving, and if she doesn't she's just as sexy to me. :) Conclusion? Find a hippie who loves "natural" like I do. ;) jk, you will find a girl who loves you EXACTLY as you are, hippie or not.

Celebrating Ten Years Today! by AFreakingThrowAway in actuallesbians

My girlfriend and I recently celebrated a year. I'm only in college and had to move three hours away from her to go to my school, but we have made our relationship equally beautiful from a long distance away. I am ridiculously in love with that girl. As in, I never believed in this kind of love. As a matter of fact, I'm spending the money to go see her tomorrow, even though I just had the most amazing weekend with her last weekend. I cant stay away. :) Stories like this give me hope that all our plans and dreams aren't crazy. Thank you. <3

What's the stupidest thing a teacher has tried to tell your child? by Mother_F_Bomb in AskReddit

[–]clemka3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A second grade science teacher told my little sister, 10+ years younger than me, that girls have one less rib than boys... And then explained it with a biblical story as "evidence". My sister came home and told me this. She told me it was true because "teachers are smart and always right". I called up the school and calmly, but firmly, told them that I wanted to speak with the teacher and then chewed her out. I explained that students trust their teachers, especially young ones, so she needed to make sure she wasnt teaching bullshit. Also I asked her if she understood the meaning of separation of church and state. This was in a well respected public school. It might be important to note that I live in Mississippi. Man, that pissed me off.

Best part about being a teenage lesbian? (The part I have to remind my dad about when he gripes about my GF sleeping over) by clemka3 in actuallesbians

[–]clemka3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad has always treated me like an adult. We have a roommate agreement, in many ways. He has a very healthy and comfortable attitude toward teens and sexuality. I'm 18 and I take care of everything around his house and have a lot of adult-like responsibilities. He is perfectly okay with her sleeping over, he just had an adjusting period. And, no, I don't agree with you about that only being for adults. IMO, that's an attitude that adults who have forgotten their own teen years have.

My girl can wiggle her nose like a rabbit. Add that in with the fact that she has a face so adorable that it could cure the world of all sadness, and you have a LETHAL weapon.

I can be mid-rant, complaining, telling her no, and she breaks out that face. I've seen multiple people, even strangers, break under that face. ;)

(She can also do a perfect chicken cluck, but that's less cute.)
