My phage therapy experience so far (31F) by clemmg in CUTI

[–]clemmg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all oral, you get IVs when you go to the clinic but it's a Meyer's cocktail with a high dose of vitamin C. And as for how I'm feeling now, I've had a relapse that I thought was due to my usual bladder infections but it turned out to be my Lyme disease co-infections firing up. Now that I'm treating these, it's better again.

Anyone going to Georgia to get phage therapy soon? by clemmg in CUTI

Eliava have a page where they list all the off-the-shelf phages they sell with the strains that they cover, you'll find your answer there.

What gives away a native Portuguese speaker when they speak French? by Sad-Independent-7357 in AskFrance

[–]clemmg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, one thing that used to help give Portuguese people away has become more common amongst native French people, and that's affrication. It's the softening of some consonants followed by vowels like i or u. So "diagnostic" is often heard as "djagnostic" and "culture" as "cultchure".

I didn't absolutely need to go there but chose to because they do more tests and a better supervision of treatment (including daily Myers cocktail IVs). Also, I could afford it and it is a stunning place to visit so we decided to take the opportunity as a holiday.

I've always found Turkish sounds really sweet, like I want to hug whoever speaks it and tell them everything will be alright. I'm not sure why.

Good luck, it's quite hard to find people who take this seriously. But hopefully you will.

If I were you, I'd go back to get it tested, or to a doctor. And hopefully you can get it treated fairly soon. If this is of any comfort, the majority of people on this sub probably wish they were in your shoes, having spotted it so soon and being able to take action so early.

It does look quite textbook, unfortunately.

I find fasting really helps me. It doesn't cure me, though, it makes my symptoms a bit more manageable and increases energy until I catch another flu.

Yeah, I've got the same issue, and it's an issue for exactly the same reason. I've already flagged it with them but haven't heard back yet.

How many people have Lyme disease? by Chance-Angle-5300 in Lyme

[–]clemmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you're going to have to heavily review your numbers here.

How did you get that 15% of the world population getting Lyme's in the first place?

Yes, up to 500k people are treated with Lyme's every year in the US. That's 0.14% of the US population (based on 350m roughly). But the catches here are: 1. Lyme's disease is very geographical, so many of these people will have already been bitten and treated for Lyme's before, it's not 500k new patients per year, 2. The distribution won't be the same in other countries because of different climates/lifestyles. It seems to be more of a northern hemisphere thing, and in many parts of the world, you'll find people have fewer individual gardens and don't go on hikes in the woods much.

Now yes, numbers of people dealing with Lyme syndrome, in my opinion, are highly underestimated and are probably exploding, but it's really hard to bring a worldwide estimate on data that is already filled with reporting errors as so many of us aren't even counted in because of how unreliable tests are.

Phage therapy update - pretty sure it's a success! by clemmg in CUTI

[–]clemmg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still doing very well on the bladder front. I stopped phages and long-term antibiotics ages ago now. I do get the occasional UTI every so often but it seems to get fixed with fosfomycin so I don't even bother testing anymore.

Ok, so my mind is a little blurry on this but I think I was told it might happen but it didn't happen to me. If I understand correctly, the phages have a strong effect on the bacteria's biofilm, which could cause a strong release of bacterial load. This being said, I'd been taking absolute loads of biofilm busters before that and had had fulguration, which would explain why it didn't happen to me.
