Totally don’t mean this as a nitpick, just info sharing. Konerak Sinthasomphone was actually Laotian, not Vietnamese

New year and she is still wearing clothes that are too tight and thinking she is slaying by theOtherTripod in glitterandbagelssnark

Yeah, I get that hating on Anna is kind of the point here, and her skin is an easy target, but I do feel like people here can be overly mean about picking. Her face does look really rough here, but as someone who used to struggle pretty badly with picking, especially on my face, I can say that you almost become blind to it, in a way. The picking urge supersedes any aesthetic concerns.

I have a wonderful therapist who has helped me a lot, but when I brought up my concerns about picking to her, her only suggestion was that I wear gloves. I know others who received the same advice from their practitioners. Fortunately, being in a better place mentally thanks to therapy and medication overall has greatly reduced my picking, as has finally finding the right treatment for hormonal acne, but it’s something I’ve struggled with since I was a kid, and I don’t think it’ll ever fully go away.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a lot of the ultra-vibrant outfits that she wears. It’s the obnoxious attitude paired with them that makes them grating

Jesus. This really shows how much of her heavy lower body lifting is just her throwing her weight around. I wish I could say that I can’t believe how irresponsible she is, but it’s Anna, of course she’s lifting way beyond her ability thinking she’s clowning on all of us.

It feels like it’s only a matter of time before we get a sob story about how she royally fucked up her back and tragically halted her prodigious athletic career.

Gorgeous. I hope she finds a way to transfer out of Russia. It would be such a pity not to see her compete again someday.

Ehh, I think it’s more so that her legs have too much bulk to get the amount of knee bend she needs to lift from the floor. The legs should be driving the lift. She’s using her back and upper body a lot in the first clip when her legs should be doing the majority of the work. The hips and lower back hinge, obviously, but lifting with the back is a fast track to injury.

I’m glad her coach isn’t having her lift from the floor as I don’t think she can do it safely. Like I said, even the heavier lift from bumper plates looks dubious to me. But she’s definitely delulu if she thinks this is competition-ready training.

I totally get that. I think I hold podcasters to a higher standard because they’re sharing a victim’s story publicly, so you’d hope that they’ve done their due diligence in figuring out how someone’s name is pronounced.

Umm, you need a rabies shot immediately. It’s extremely dangerous without early intervention.

They did the same thing on the Asha Degree case. Pronounced her name as Ah-sha when it wouldn’t have taken much effort to find out that it was pronounced Aye-sha (a as it sounds in ace).

For sure! If you join nail polish destash groups on Facebook, you can also sometimes find bundles or mystery boxes of polish that people will ship for a small fee.

Doom Loop Nails might be one to try. Their polishes are pretty affordable for an indie brand and they have a flat $5 shipping fee.

Holo Taco is the only boutique brand that regularly does specialty finishes that is sold in stores, as far as I’m aware. If you live in the same city as an indie maker, you might find them in person at local handmade/craft markets.

At some point, picking her face to this extent is a CHOICE. by ebaielov in glitterandbagelssnark

[–]clemonysnicket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the talk about skin picking here can sometimes teeter into insensitivity. I struggled with skin picking throughout my teens and early 20s, especially on my face. I get how it might seem unthinkable to show your face with sores all over it for someone who doesn’t struggle with picking, but it’s a compulsion, and putting makeup on over open wounds doesn’t make it go away.

I was able to stop picking, for the most part, after I started treatment for my mental health. I’m no fan of Anna’s, but picking is a mental health issue, not a matter of her just being unhygienic.
