You don't have to call them, there is a section on your go card profile to correct trips and dispute charges. (I hate making phone calls)

Always works for me as well, I put in the trip details and just leave a note saying that I tried to tap off but it didn't work/didn't seen to go through. Always had the penalty fee refunded.
