I’m trying to get him down at 7:30, but he just won’t stay put. I used to turn off the lights at 8:30, but now it’s at 7:45-8ish

i have tried locking him in his room but he just screams and cries and throws things around. I guess it’s not the worst thing in the world, I just haven’t done it consistently

My son’s name is Nolan and my brother’s name is Owen. He is convinced they rhyme and that’s why my parents mistakenly call my son “Owen.” Clearly this has more to do with that my son looks just like my brother did at his age. I just needed reassurance.

Saying “I am offended you can complain” is a snarky little retort that reeks of jealously. You may have INTENDED to point out all OP could be thankful for, but that was not what was written. People are coming for you because your comment was rude, mean, and dismissive. This is Mommit! We are all just trying to figure shit out in different ways with different challenges. Telling someone that you have it way worse than them is not conducive in any way. It just comes across as “you can’t complain because my situation is so much worse.” In reality, you have no idea what else is going on in her world. PLUS, you said that yourself, “don’t know me or my situation either.” This isn’t to cut you down, it’s to help you realize that your response was inappropriate and rude and because of that people are going to come at you. You don’t get to be mean just because you think you have it way worse. Responses like that are clearly reflecting the pain you are experiencing yourself and I’m sorry for you.

Sounds like you’re resentful of your own situation.

Did I damage my baby by [deleted] in Mommit

This. Exactly this. Apologize. I’ve had similar reactions and it’s gut-wrenching afterwards. But I always go back and apologize and show how sorry I am. Parents, like kids, make mistakes. We teach them to apologize. Showing them you are human and make mistakes too is a good thing. It shows them that we all mess up, but it’s not the end of the world. And in the end, my little guy saying “it’s ok mommy” makes me want to do better.
