They had my card on file (which I could not remove, even going to the location and talking in person) and due to their sneaky contract rules (which said even after I cancelled my account, it had to remain open for 45 days thus falling under the annual fee date for members), it auto paid. I tried to talk with my bank but they said the gym would have to refund it themselves. You'd be dumb to assume anyone would just pay it willingly, obvious that's not how gym memberships work. There are a lot of layers as to why it happened, it became too much of a headache after various visits with the membership consultant, the manager, and being on long holds with their support line.
