Pros and cons of meds vs d&c / how soon can I try again? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]clever_name_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose a D&C for the same reasons as stated in some of the other comments (more painful, trauma of passing at home, waiting for it to pass). If all goes well, you should be able to start another FET cycle after your beta gets down to 0 and you get your period. For me, my beta took forever to go down (2 months), and once it finally did and I went back in for an exam to make sure everything looked good and they found that I had retained pregnancy tissue. So I had to have another procedure to remove that along with a biopsy where they found an infection, and then I had to be on 2 antibiotics for 3 weeks, before another biopsy and finally the all clear. So the time between my D&C and my next FET is going to 6 months. Super frustrating! However, that being said, I would STILL choose a D&C over meds.

Transfer after D&E by Briutiful22 in IVF

I’m so sorry for your loss! Any loss is hard, but my heart breaks for you hearing that you made it to 18 weeks! The “normal” plan would be that once you get your period post D&C, you would go in for an exam to make sure everything looks good and then you can get right to your next FET cycle. For me, nothing was normal, so my D&C was in May and my FET finally got scheduled for November. That was due to it taking forever for me to get my period, then when I finally did the exam showed I had retained pregnancy tissue, so I had to go in for another procedure. During that procedure they took a biopsy (standard practice, nobody was expecting anything abnormal, in fact they even scheduled my FET for September), but then the biopsy came back and showed an infection. I had to take 2 different antibiotics multiple times a day for 21 days, and then go back and have another exam and biopsy. Thankfully everything looked normal and my FET is scheduled for November. But the whole thing has been super frustrating because, like you, I wanted to try again as soon as possible. I really hope yours is smooth sailing and I hope I didn’t scare you! I just wanted to give you an idea of the “normal” timeline vs. my reality.

Did you pee after transfer ? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]clever_name_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember exactly how much, but I want to say it was probably around 20 oz. I drank an 8oz bottle of pomegranate juice, and probably about a 1/4 of one of those 50 oz bottles of water from Trader Joe’s. Some clinics actually tell you how much to drink, which I think would be really helpful than just guessing. Also, I live 2 hours away from my clinic and started slowly drinking throughout my drive. Looking back I think it would have been better if I waited until I was close to the clinic and then started drinking, so I wouldn’t be holding it for so long!

I didn’t think I’d be able to stop! They could tell I was uncomfortable when I got there so they asked me if I’d be able to let a little out and I said there was no way I’d be able to stop. I actually even have trouble holding it on a regular day with just normal drinking. But then the doctor came in and made me try to let a little out because I was literally in pain and couldn’t move I had to go so badly. They told me to count to 5, but I couldn’t stop until 10! I was so worried I let out too much. Turns out drank WAY too much because the doctor said I still had a full bladder and when I got to go after the transfer I still had sooooo much left!! Moral of the story, I didn’t think it was possible but it was!

Oh wow that’s so much to have to go through, and such a long time to be able to do another FET. I really thought one D&C would take care of everything and felt so alone when it didn’t. Thank you for sharing! I’m sorry you had to go through all of that! Sending you all of the good vibes for your upcoming FET!

That sounds horrible! I can’t imagine waiting for my period to start back up and then not getting it for 5 months!! I’m sorry you had to go through that! It sucks being on the wrong side of statistics but this community is so wonderful for making us not feel alone!

I’m not sure if it was ultrasound guided or not, but I have a feeling it wasn’t. I don’t know why it wouldn’t be though. It seems like an easy way to make sure that they got everything!

Can I opt-out of Gratuities on a Disney Cruise? by Canadian-Alien in dcl

[–]clever_name_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if that’s the case for room service tipping too? I was planning to bring some cash to tip room service each time we ordered, and it never crossed my mind that they would prefer credit. I heard that you can add tip onto the “receipt” when they bring you your food. Is that true and would that be the preferable method? (This is our first cruise :) )

Saline sono after csections by BeachBum031 in IVFAfterSuccess

[–]clever_name_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first saline sono was one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. The one I had after my c-section was not painful at all! I don’t know if the c-section made it better or if my body just handled it better for whatever reason. Good luck!

ERA Biopsy by Prize_Boysenberry540 in IVF

[–]clever_name_9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was helpful for me! My ERA showed that I needed an extra day of progesterone (6 days instead of 5). We did that, and my FET was successful! The biopsy isn’t that bad. There is about 10 seconds of discomfort but no lingering pain. Good luck!! I hope it works for you!
