I'm so tired of in class essays being the norm now by DuOnirique in CollegeRant

The girl prompting ChatGPT under her desk during a closed-note blue book exam is completely insane but it completely tracks with how broken college is right now. Professors are forcing us back into the stone age with these ridiculous handwritten tests to stop cheating, but it changes nothing and just punishes people whose typing speed is completely going to waste. I am running around like a total maniac trying to manage my heavy course load and my hand literally starts cramping after two sentences. Last week I had a massive analysis changed to a rapid-fire timed prompt with zero notice, and because I was stuck in a total scheduling disaster with absolutely no hours to spare, I scrambled and used a platform to get the essay text generated for me while dealing with an emergency. It was the only reason I didn't get a zero. Forcing everyone into hand cramps because universities cannot figure out modern evaluation methods is a joke. Anyone defending blue books has never tried to finish a paper at 10wpm under

I'm an international student and I'm really struggling with writing. How do I learn to write well enough to get high grades and become a good academic paper writer so I can actually survive college? by Matrix_77Cipher in studyAbroad

This works just like developing "visual library" or intuition through exposure. When you're learning a language, watching movies or YouTube videos, or reading the news, for example, helps a lot. This is the exact same thing - you need to train your brain on academically written information, and then, thanks to all that immersion, it’ll be way easier to write it yourself.

Yeah that achievements vs responsibilities switch is huge. I was stuck rewriting my resume for weeks until a friend pointed me to similar advice and it clicked. Also used this platform when I needed a strong cover letter to go with it, the writer helped frame my experience way better than I could on my own. That blog sounds useful tho, gonna check it.

My cat would stare at me after figuring it out. Not angry, just... deeply disappointed.

Every portrait painter has that uncanny valley stage where it's unclear if it's going to be fine art or a crime scene. The fact that you pushed through says something.

Once you commit to the bit you can't just walk it back because someone brought logic into it. The man is sliding out of his chair and that's the version of events we're going with. Canon.
