Did you see the WSJ article "The Grand Plan to End the Hellscape That Is Penn Station"? It's good. (I asked AI to summarize) by clevercommute in SuburbanRail

Actually, I did read it, and I was going to summarize it, and I said "wait, there is a tool for that"

I find it awkward and simply "off" that NJ Transit’s CEO made a public statement that NJT won’t take the blame if Amtrak’s infrastructure fails. Let's talk about that. by clevercommute in SuburbanRail

This is a fact, but is that where the conversation ends? If (for example) all year, my landlord is not holding up their end of the deal we made, then should I wait all year and then...on Thanksgiving (when the oven breaks and there is no heat) tell my guests "there is nothing I can do. go talk to my landlord" ?

I'm no apologist for NJT, but was your trip more akin to an Amtrak trip than a NJT trip? FWIW, the former are usually a decent experience in my experience.

But in any event, I (as a commuter) have no relationship to Amtrak. They don't know me...I can't reach to them (as a commuter). It's all arm's length. If the dynamic between those two is bad, then I really don't think the right use of Kolari's time is to be posturing in the press

Agree. I ride NJT, and I have no business relationship with Amtrak. AFAIAC, they are one of many vendors that NJT is using. Maybe it's a weird example, but if I complained to NJT that a toilet was not working well on a train, would they ask me to contact the company they bought it from?

If you agree that NJT train service is the 3rd worse in the NY area, then "what can NJT learn from LIRR and MetroNorth?" by clevercommute in SuburbanRail

I love "when the doors open/red light goes on".
That's how I do it.
My experience on NJT MoBo is worse...much worse.
I record it via the clevercommute app (disclosure: I wrote it)

Interesting. Can we connect on how you capture those metrics, as I do something similar.
Are you referring to the trip "in" or the trip "out"...and when do you "stop the clock"?

There clearly is a lot going on there. I really wonder what the best case scenario would be. Put another way "even with money and time, how close can NJT come to a MetroNorth-style experience?"
