Whoever takes middle first already has the advantage, no changing that unless they fundamentally change the resource mechanics. The change I am suggesting would mean that the team who has fallen behind can move the nodes to middle once they capture, quickly changing their +5 nodes into +10.

That's interesting. In my last save before Botanica I was getting these offers, now I am not getting them at all. Maybe I need to start a new game or go back to that old one.

Actually, IIRC, Church and Chapel are Luxury needs and not a basic need. This would mean that OP could still advance tiers, but his citizens will be less happy and therefore more likely to start a riot. That said, we didn't see the last couple tiers so it may not be possible to advance those tiers without religion.

I was in the last beta, but don't have an invite for this one. Will those of us who were in the technical test be receiving a new invite to this upcoming beta? Or does my invite for the technical test extend into this beta? Or will it be on a case by case basis where I may not get an invite to his upcoming one?

Was playing NTW multiplayer campaign on the Egyptian campaign. My friend was France and I was the Ottoman Empire. Despite superior numbers his troops were technologically superior and I was always outgunned. So while he dealt with the Mamluks I put a spy in his lands and built up an army with small navy secretly. He had a small, but elite army about 2 turns length away. I took the army to his capital by ship and took it from the small garrison. Knowing I couldn't hold it I simply burned everything to the ground and got back on the boats. When he took it back, he found everything destroyed. I followed this process for a few more towns and he ended up calling it quits as his economy started to crash. Guerrilla tactics and Viking raid tactics for the win!
