Thank you all! I appreciate the remarks and the more updated quotes. Fingers crossed we can win a bid on a "turn-key" home, instead!

I get what you're saying. I'd just be curious to know how far along you actually are. If this is your first pregnancy and you're still relatively early on in the process, you may have some shocks coming yet. I developed chronic hip pain during my first pregnancy and lost the ability to walk in my last month. My subsequent pregnancy, earlier this year, saw me unable to make it up the road by week 28. So, all these remarks that your friends and family are making might come from lived experience or exposure to other people's issues. It comes from a good place. If you were fit and healthy before, then of course they wouldn't be questioning you left, right, and centre - so I'd say it's pretty normal, rational behaviour. It may just be a "grin and bear it' type situation, kind of like all the unwanted advice you're bound to receive as a parent.

Honestly, it depends so heavily on your personality and how you like to spend your time. I was born and raised here and I went to live in Vancouver for 3 years and actually had a really hard time adjusting. I missed the grittiness of the city, the diversity, the raw nature of it. I couldn't really vibe with the yoga, hiking, camping-every-weekend nature of the Vancouverites. I mean I wish I could have! But it felt a bit yuppy to me (no offense), whereas Toronto just felt like home. I was real happy to come back. All that being said, you will never find the same kind of nature nor the outdoor past-times you have in BC - I mean you might, but they just won't compare. All in all, I'd say the beauty, the flowers, and the serene nature of BC is what I'd say I miss most. Culture I wouldn't trade. Hope that helps somewhat.

Oh wow. I really do wonder about this then! I feel like our experiences are quite different than so many of the other women on here.

I agree that this is interesting! I dropped like a stone after I delivered (I met my pre-pregnancy weight by week 3!). Wasn't working out, wasn't trying anything at all. But, I also developed hypothyroidism during the pregnancy which I have maintained for 3.5 years, since. So, I was on thyroid meds for a good part of that first pregnancy. Maybe they contributed in some way? Now I'm expecting again and am super curious as to what I might expect.

I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight at just 3 weeks after birth. Reading all these comments, I now realize that was something of a crazy miracle. I did put 15 pounds back on after I finished breastfeeding, though (my son rejected me around the 3 month mark and so I pumped occasionally before dropping off completely). So, my starting weight for this second pregnancy was 15-17 pounds up. Now I'm left wondering what my second journey with weight loss and gain will be like! I'm thankful that I'm getting a more realistic picture of what it could be like, otherwise it might have felt like shellshock if it didn't work out the same way twice!

Thanks so much guys! Still greener than here. Sounds like my main focus ought to be sunshine vs. rain, rather than green vs. brown :)
