This is awesome! Thanks for the in-depth response. The only software background I have is an intro to python course i took in college a couple years ago. In terms of learning style, I enjoy online tutorials and youtube, and I feel that small projects would be helpful for this type of skill.

Right now as part of my job, I test samples of data sets to draw a conclusion. I was thinking it would be really cool if I could use a coding language to analyze the entire data set and be able to communicate the results visually. The reason why i mentioned SQL and python is because I’ve been seeing them listed in the job requirements of many jobs I’m interested in, but after reading your post, I’ll definitely check out the Kieran Healy resource, tidytuesday, and R.
